While this was a pretty good place to stay, it is absolutely not worth the price, and pretty much all services they offer are overpriced.

We stayed here for 5 nights - at ~$80/night it seemed like a great deal, especially as it offered amenities like taxi ordering, flower bath, swimming pool, etc. However, once we got here, we quickly realized how overpriced this place is.

For comparison, nearby you can get a hotel room with bathroom & queen size bed for ~$20. It doesn't have a huge bath tub nor marble floor like this place, but I'm sure you can get all that at a fraction of the price.

Now let's talk about their amenities:

Taxi service - they order a driver to drive you around for 4hrs for 600k IDR. Sounds like a deal right? Nope. It takes 10-20min to get the cab whereas if you just walk outside in any direction within 60s multiple people will have offered you a taxi service for half a day for 400k IDR. Same thing when we left - to get to the airport they quoted 350k and 20min wait. We walked outside and got a taxi in 30s for 300k IDR. Not to mentioned they didn't tell us if we were suppose to pay the driver or not - so we did, then received 600k IDR on our bill at the end as well.. luckily after they called the driver it was all sorted out.

Food - while it wasn't bad it was clearly not authentic. Flavors were way watered down (locals told us that's common with hotels as not all foreigner can withstand the strong flavors) and cost 100k per person. In comparison when our driver took us to the local night market it was AMAZING - tasty, well-spiced, and authentic food for 20k per person. The convenience of having room service also wasn't really worth it as there were restaurants everywhere nearby.

Flower bath - order 1 day in advance and they'll make a gorgeous flower bath in your tub for 300k. Well turns out if you went to Jaen Spa within a 5min walk you can get a 2 HOUR treatment of massage, body scrub and flower bath for 350k IDR! The water they put the flowers in was also rather cold so we couldn't actually enjoy it outside of just taking photos.

The property itself is also rather small, there's only 2 floors to the entire building (we got the first floor) and all the rooms are more or less right next to the (rather small) pool which means you can't really open your curtains and let in light unless you're presentable.

So all in all there isn't anything wrong with the place per se, but coming to Bali for the first time I overestimated the need for convenient services like food or transportation and it's just not something you really need in Bali. Money also goes a looong way here so what feels like a reasonable price is actually...

Don't look any further must stay in Ubud! This place is called Sapodilla and we absolutely loved our stay here. Will definitely return and it is very reasonably priced for the 5 star treatment and clean room you are getting. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

  1. Location: central Ubud; very close to all your city attractions and markets. Super close to many delicious restaurants, ATM, gas station (for scooter), and convenience store. It is on a very busy road so easily accessible to all the major amenities you need; however, even though it is on a busy road, it turns into a small road onto their property so it is absolutely quiet and you wouldn't even be able to tell you are in the city.
  2. Shuttle - they have a convenient pick up and drop off shuttle for free that will take you anywhere you want to go in the city. Very convenient.
  3. Room, pool, and common area- VERY clean. They clean the pool area daily and sweep the lawn / common area numerous times a day so there's no leaves and flowers on the ground. SUPER clean rooms (they make a note whenever you leave the property so whenever you come back, you are welcomed back to a clean room). Gigantic bathroom with lovely huge bath tubs (they included bath salts and bubble bath soap).
  4. Breakfast / snacks - Breakfast is absolutely delicious (LOVE the mi goreng, congee, fried bananas. They bring it to the table outside your room and it is very filling. Breakfast always comes with fruits, fried bananas, juice in addition to the meal set you choose. They have mid-day snacks in the common area consisting of coffee / tea / dessert. Yummy!
  5. Extras - They give you a burner phone so you can call them whenever you need help. They also arrange scooters, tours for you (we went to Mt Batur).
  6. Customer Service - Leaving this point last because the customer service was OUT OF THIS WORLD. They really make you feel like you are at home and treat customers with the utmost respect. They will go out of their way to help you. Whenever you leave or arrive "home", they will stand up and greet you and ask how your day was. Check-in and check-out was absolutely smooth (once again they greet you personally when you arrive). They know all their customers by name so it feels absolutely personable. Very easy to reach and contact via whatsapp. They will answer any questions you have. Shout out to Eka, Rasmini, and Gun for top-notch 5...

I need to take some time to share a review of my positive experience at Sapodilla Ubud. It is quite tricky trying to find accommodation in Ubud because of the many options available. I was extremely fortunate to choose Sapodilla Ubud on my first trip to Bali for my partner and myself. We took a Grab car from the airport to Sapodilla Ubud on our own at about 450k IDR. This is approximately the same cost as Sapodilla Ubud's own transfer service. When we arrived, we were greeted promptly and provided with a cool, refreshing towel, and a delicious welcome drink. We were early, so we explored near the accommodation while we waited for the room to be ready. Location: Fantastic and nearby access to popular fried/grilled duck restaurants and many cafes and eateries, fair walking distance to Yoga Barn and Radiantly Alive yoga studios, monkey forest, etc. Room: We were given the ground floor room with direct access to the pool which was lovely. The room is spacious, and the bath tub is huge. Bottled water, slippers, pyjamas, shampoo/soap/conditioner/toothpaste and toothbrush are provided. Service: The team was always contactable via WhatsApp for most of our requests. Room was made every day, and includes turndown service. Wifi: Wifi was fast enough for YouTube video streaming. Transport: They also had short-trip transport if you ever needed to move about the area. Food: Breakfast was served at their dining area, or you could request it to be delivered to your room. Portions were satisfying for their western/local menu, and their smoothie bowl is delicious and filling. I enjoyed their local Bali coffee as well. Activities: They have a free Canang activity where you learn to create flower baskets that you see at every shop front, for good blessing. We made a total of nine and placed them at the porch of our room. Good massage spas near by as well! Safety: Feels very private and safe due to single front entrance from main road. The team at Sapodilla Ubud is very enthusiastic in making sure we were well taken care of, and would always greet us with "Welcome Home!" when we returned. Really grateful for the service and hospitality of Sapodilla Ubud team: Yuli, Eka, and so many other members of the Sapodilla Ubud team that we didn't manage to get the names of. We look forward to staying here again in our future trips as...

Amazing service from the moment I stepped into the reception, and that makes a big difference to the guest experience. My room wasn’t ready when I came, but no problem the hotel has a great little cafe and restaurant which has super fast wifi, and a selection of food and drinks. Upon check in you will be given a phone, which you can also take around Ubud, and keep in contact with the hotel 24/7. This is great if you take the free shuttle into town or for a faster ride, you can call the motorbike driver at the hotel to take you and drop you off. This in itself is a great motivator to stay here. When I checked in, the room was a suite over looking the pool. Super clean, spacious and well ventilated. Cable tv, mini bar, coffee facilities, mosquito repellant, fast wifi, contemporary style with a uniquely Ubud interior twist. The pool is fantastic. It’s not Olympic size, but it is more than enough to do laps, relax and is super clean. Rooms are quiet which is great, especially free from the noise of the road. Lots of natural trees and plants here, and the garden is beautiful. Sit outside with afternoon tea (provided by the property), or have food and drinks served to you. Staff are super friendly and helpful, and speak great English. Outside you are immediately onto the main road. Not far to Ubud’s famous monkey forest, the Royal Palace. Surrounded by lots of cafes and restaurants of all budgets. 100m from a super market, and close to lots of shops if you want to shop for textiles or local crafts. Honestly a great last minute find and well worth the price. I have been to Ubud many times but never stayed in this area. Highly recommend it, as you can be in the rice fields north in under 20 mins, at the main attractions in a walkable distance.

Excellent boutique hotel in the heart of Ubud. You can find many restaurants, minimarts and Spas near the hotel. The hotel only has 16 rooms so its very quiet and peaceful. There is no lift so if you stay on 2nd floor, you will need to use the stairs. They only have 2 pins power sockets in the room so bring along the necessary adapter. Request for them to teach you on how to use the in-room safe. Its different from the usual safe in other hotels and there is no written instructions. The rooms are very spacious with especially large bathroom with separate bathtub and shower area. The storage area and wardrobe are also in the bathroom. We requested for extra bed and it was easily accomodated (additional Rp250k per night). The swimming pool is not very big but long enough to do laps in. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. They will try to remember your names and greet you accordingly. The ala-carte breakfast is served in the Japanese restaurant in front of the hotel but you can request to serve the breakfast in your room. Room service food is also from this restaurant. The food is pretty good. Limited parking space for those people who drive. They provide shuttle service to other parts of Ubud like Monkey Forest and Ubud Palace. My rooms are on the ground floor thus easy access to the pool. Unfortunately when it rains, there isn't much shelter so getting to the room from the lobby will require umbrella. We make use of their laundry service as well (Rp30k per KG). You need to pass them the laundry before 9:30am and the clean clothes will be returned the next day around 10-11am. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in Sapodilla Ubud and highly recommend this Hotel.
