JB's Guest Accommodation — Hotel in The Municipal District of Kilkenny City

is this guesthouse meant to be a three star? more like no star. the bathroom door didn't lock the windows couldn't close so we ended up getting very little sleep coz of the noise, we were booked in here by a hen agency, and i'll never stay in it again. damp on the walls damp on the ceilings, brown stains on the bath, no handsoap at the sink, 2 towels given even tho there were 4 people staying in the room. the person who greeted us the door smelt of beer at 3pm in the day. i am surprised this place hasn't been closed down as the owners clearly don't give a toss about it. the breakfast was a trolley left out in the hall with one chair, a few plates. no kettle to make tea or coffee and no cutlery. how were we supposed to eat our cereal with no cutleryl.the carpet hadnt seen a hoover in a long time. the guesthouse is old and needs to be renovated or even better- closed down. if HIQA walked into guesthouses this place would have been closed down long and ever ago. The main positive about this place is the location. It is only a stone’s throw from the train/bus station and the main street which has a lot of bars/restaurants/clubs. However, the location cannot save this place which is otherwise very disappointing. In short do not stay here. Rooms are dated. In a room for four only three towels were provided. Although a kettle was provided there was no coffee or tea-bags so pretty pointless supplying the kettle. The breakfast is awful – probably the worst breakfast I have ever seen. No milk. No drinks apart from a big bottle of water with around 100ml in it (and that was at 4am in the morning before anyone could have had any). The place is tired and dirty with holes in the walls and dust everywhere. Has a bad musty smell. Staff (well the woman who I met) was not great – not particularly professional. Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else. This place seems to target stags/hens but if you are part of a stag/hen/large group you can definitely do a whole lot better. We were put in this dive of a guest house on the last night of our go coach tour of beautiful lreland.the room reduced me to tears,how dare go holidays put a coach partyin such dirty,tired rooms.go holidays on my complaint returned the complaint to unfounded,they claim they often use this hotel ,inspect regurlary .i can only say the pictures dont lie,||| ||Blood and urine stained old mattrsses, dead flies on old peeling paint windowsill, clumps of hair in both shower waste and basin.the shower cubicle mouldy black.the wash hand basin chipped.on the floor a use cotton bud.
