When your traveling plains include a trip to Tuscany and an overnight in Cortona, then consider the elegant Villa Marsili at Via Gino Severini, 48, down the street from the walled city gate of the old city of Cortona. The walk from the hotel to the center Piazza Della Repubblica is 7 minutes. The hotel interior is freshly painted in bright, calming, decal accentuated colors, decorated with antique furniture and relic art. There are Classic rooms and Superior rooms. The Superior rooms are spacious, bright, overlooking street and country vista views. The beds are firm and comfortably spacious with King size options. There are tub alternatives to showers. The window curtains have sheer and sun-blocking together. There are approximately 28 rooms to choose from for a stay. The breakfast is set at a very high bar. There are so many choices of foods with service from kind and attentively waiting staff. I have never been in need of so much assistance while traveling due to events beyond my control that required help from hotel managers than when Expedia mistakenly booked my party of 2 in two separate suites and when on my departure date Italian train services decided to go on strike. This hotel management worked to assure my needs and desires were satisfactory met. The managing staff are experienced, knowledgeable, and above all as professional as the travel industry can expect and provide. I cannot imagine a better place to become stranded and a better team of professionals to be stranded with than at Villa Marsili. Oh, poor me! See the hotel website for photos of how beautiful this hotel is. The pictures are an honest reflection of how it actually...
Read moreCortona is certainly a gem in Tuscany, little could I have imagined that I would be staying at the "Gem of the Gem!" Villa Marsili is located just outside the old city where all the action is. Thus it is easy walking distance to everything and yet quiet and calm. My room was very comfortable and generous, spacious and clean. Crisp white soft bedding and plenty of hot water. The villa is extremely friendly -- but I will leave the best for the last ! The breakfast was unique. I have travelled world wide and indeed the breakfast and staff were extremely caring including an amazing collection of special goodies, specially prepared small stuffed vegetables and bakery artistically made by Carmen, whose breakfast is indeed unique and recognized as one of the best in Europe.||The hotel is managed by a wonderful couple, Marina Torresi and her retired husband Athos Bennati. They are exceptionally caring and efficient. Here is where a wonderful hotel is worthy of being considered spectacular!! I had a number of appointments in Cortona and asked Marina to arrange a taxi only to find that the Trains were on strike and consequently no Taxis could be found. I was concerned and anxious about how I would make my appointments and Marina assured me that they would care for me. Athos, her husband took me in his car to my destinations, graciously with a smile, giving me the sense that I was embraced and part of the family.||Yes, Villa Marsili is a gem that should not be missed!!||Thank you and special thanks to...

I have to say after spending four weeks in many parts of Italy, it was the best hotel experiences at Villa Marsilli mainly because of the staff. We left after week stay so satisfied and went up to Genvoa to visit cousins. On our way back to Rome we Called Villa Marsilli to make sure they would have accommodations for us. We stay there another three days. We would like to mention All the staff starting with the Director Marina, that explained to us all the food and culture of the area. Reception was always there to help Lvana, Valentina & Sofia. Vincent (the of male on staff) & Yonabell were very attentive at breakfast. Miranda, Sanae & Anna in House keeping were very efficient. Last but not the least...Carmen the Chef. Every morning she had a new dish or pasitry for us to try. God willing we will see them...
