Very tasty food, mixed up the order of bringing out the food, possibly because many servers were involved. The duck with tagliatelle reminded me of tuna casserole in texture and flavor, but it was overall good. The steak tartare was delicious, though I couldn't taste or smell the truffles at all. The porcini mushrooms had a much stronger flavor. The zuccotto was one of the tallest desserts I've ever had. It's a Tuscan with a passion fruit filling. I asked multiple waitress what was on the inside, and they insisted it was sponge cake throughout. They said that the inside is the same ingredients but prepared differently. After looking up zuccotto online, I found that the inside is a semifreddo of some kind. Still the waiter insisted it was nothing but sponge cake. At this point, it wasn't something getting lost in translation :). I happened to walk by the chef on the way out and told him how delicious it was. He told me it was simply a mixture of eggs, milk, sugar, and passion fruit juice. I knew I tasted something tangy and fruity in the center and that it had a different texture from the outer sponge cake! I would encourage the wait staff to be more knowledgeable about the menu to help educate customers. Despite this, I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and would return. It seemed to be a very popular restaurant and was...
Read moreCompletely overrated. Worst Toscana food experience so far. We booked table outside, reservation arrangement was smooth and friendly. That's changed after arrived, we were served by an ill mooded senior waiter, no smile, no help, short worded. No problem, the food will be great... We had Faggotini w/ porcini which were slightly overcooked. "Creative" house appetizers which materialised as half hearted selection of filled Zucchini, some aubergine and rolled beef. Tastwise meaningless. On main dishes Baccala of cod - the 2 tiny tasteless pieces definetely were ordinary fish fillet and not baccala (dried salted fish, re-wartered). Slices of suckling pig - also this wasn't suckling big, it was non crispy, ultra fat ordinary pig meat pre-boiled and warmed up. Filet Rossini - the filet was okay, the foie gras and truffle tasteless. Overall it seems Osteria del Teatro is using colourful, exaggerated meal description for ordinary creation, adding a foul mooded service and higher price level counts for ⭐⭐⭐ max. Tip: Bistro Cortona has much better food and friendlier service. The owner runs the service his wife cooks, try the...

Anyway, my fault It was not to see the prices or the Style of menú before. Thipical high-prices restaurant and few food on the dishes( my apologize if this bother someone). The total for two persons: 89€......why? Cause of two glasses of wine 19€, and I had to ask for second plate because first was little quantity... Did we eat bad food? Really not...but we have eaten last days cheaper and better at toscana..same quality? To be honest i dont care, the food was spectacular and 10€ for 3 glasses of wine, for example..The food and wine are really high quality here? We dont know, im not an expert, and we dont believe is neccesary to be" I am on average tourist knowledge". The service was correct and fast. We just only can say the experience was a...
