Overall me and my husband had a nice time at this place, but there were some hiccups.
Positives: La Corta has been beautifully renovated and is well positioned in the town centre it’s literally a stone throw from all the restaurants of cortona and the main square, Unfortunately, their garage was full so we had to park just outside of the town wall. Parking is quite hard to find and the spaces are small so we would have preferred a private space.
We also received a warm welcome from both Sara and her brother so that was nice. In the morning Sara also cooked us an omelette - much appreciated.
Drawbacks: We booked the wellness suite but during our first evening/ night we noticed that it had a strange musty smell.
The sauna worked well however, we couldn’t stay in that room because of the smell. We moved to the grand suite the next morning.
That suite was really nice with frescos on the wall and a well working jacuzzi. However, to use the toilet we had to remove the chrome bracket as the buttons weren’t connecting to the levers. A general point here is that house keeping and front of house need to communicate with each other and guests shouldn’t be finding issues like this.
Whilst I was happy with the room replacement my husband wasn’t so much as this is not what we had booked and he wanted to stay there in the first place only because of the sauna.
Whilst we also appreciated Sara making omelettes a general improvement point could be to put out fresher items and a couple of hot options like mushrooms and bacon. For example the croissants (on the second breakfast) and meat didn’t smell that fresh, that’s a really small change that can be implemented given the...
Read moreI stayed in the apartment Piazza Passerini for nearly two months while teaching in Cortona - the apartment could not be more perfect. The apt would easily accommodate three (I was alone but had visitors during my time and can attest that both beds are comfortable). The apartment has a well appointed kitchen for cooking in, a bathroom and laundry room, an ample sized dining room / living room, and two beautiful bedrooms. The wifi is good - always enough to get on FB and check emails, I could easily stream daily news programs, streaming tv/movies was at times slow but doable, there is also a tv in the living area. View of the center of town and the valley beyond is fantastic. The "secret" little potted garden at the top of the entrance is lovely. The location is ideal - shopping, restaurants, grocery store - all "right around the corner". Beautiful natural light in the bedrooms - lighting and lamps throughout... I have been here in the heat of summer and while there is no AC the breeze coming in through the windows keeps the apartment cool.||||Sara, Ambra's daughter, is incredibly helpful and kind, she speaks nearly flawless English, quick to make reservations at local restaurants, helpful with information about the area, all around perfect host. Ambra and the rest of her family are equally joyful - always with a smile and always welcoming. ||||I cannot say enough - it is a perfect place to stay in Cortona for a long...
Read moreGorgeous place to stay. It is in a renovated palace with fabulous architectural details. It is also very close to town.
The breakfast was homemade sweets and Sara made an omelette for us. Unfortunately, it ended on a bad note with Sara closing the place from 1-3 on Sunday without offering to help us with storing our luggage nor assisting us with transportation back to the train station. She was done with us very abruptly leaving us with no place for our luggage and no way to get back to the station. She didn’t even know the bus schedule nor tried to help us. Make sure if you stay here you find out the details of your departure and transportation.
Silvia at Enotria Enoteca was our angel and stored our luggage for us so we can walk around the town. She also has great sandwiches and a delicious cheese selection. Then a nice local man Michele from Naples gave us a ride back.
Also, it seemed like Sara doesn't know many people or restaurants in town. She referred us to a horrible hamburger place when we said we don't eat red meat. We found Pane e Vino on our own and Antica Trattoria which were incredible. Ask the locals where to eat.
In summary, beautiful place and very clean. Make transportation and luggage storage ahead of time and find your...
