This hotel was a good location for seeing the Florence sites. Easily accessible from the airport by the tram and we were able to walk everywhere. |The room, a Junior suite, whilst quirky, was disappointing. The room was large but very dark, with windows over looking the side alley. ||For a junior suite I would expect a decent bathroom, but to our surprise it was quite small and seemed to be an add on to the room. With no windows it was also dark and felt claustrophobic and had a shower in the middle of the room which you had to enclose yourself in with the shower doors which were folded back out the way. ||The bed was extremely hard, as were the pillows! ||Our response, trying to be pragmatic, well we’re only sleeping in here so it’ll be ok, well… on the first night the room thermostat had been set so high (@27 degrees), we opened the window, only to be abruptly woken up during the night/morning with street cleaners and who knows what. Windows then remained shut!! ||After the third night, and waking up with two more insect bites, (now 4 nasty ones on consecutive nights), we asked for the bed linen to be changed, just to see if this would help. To be met by a response by the duty manager that was not very customer friendly. Insisting it was mosquitoes as it was wet outside. Erm…. It was dry the whole time we were there and not even any puddles in sight! She defended the cleanliness of the bed sheets… ok fine… but at the end of the day I wanted to sheets changed so please just do it. She relented eventually. ||The other two duty managers we experienced throughout the stay, were very knowledgeable and helpful. ||Unfortunately to top it off, on the last night, we were kept awake by barking dogs that had been left in a nearby room by their owners who were out for the evening. |To be fair on the hotel, we used the WhatsApp system to contact someone which worked and they tried to sort it out. ||But I didn’t see anywhere that this was a dog friendly hotel and if we had we may have thought otherwise. ||For the £££££ we paid it certainly did not feel worth it!! ||However, Florence itself gets a...
Read moreI’ll start with the positives- great location and Laura, I think she’s the hostess/concierge, was lovely. She was very helpful and sweet. Beautiful ceilings/paintings in the rooms that are apparently from the 16th century. ||The negatives- suuuper noisy. The walls are super thin and you can literally hear everything happening. We were in room 5 and you can hear the main area very clearly, the outside sounds are also super loud, and you can hear noises and talking from the rooms on both sides. The main bed/mattress in the room is also extremely old and makes a lot of sound when you move around. It seems the furniture is also from the 16th century as well. The pillows are very uncomfortable. The worst part of the experience was dealing with the male staff Mario. What a rude and unpleasant person he is. I kindly went to ask for earplugs and to let him know that the mattress or bed was broken and makes tons of sounds, he immediately became defensive and speaking loudly and rudely at me, basically shouting that I am the first person to complain about this and that I can go and read the reviews that no one complains. He also said he doesn’t have earplugs because they don’t need to have those since there is no noise issues been reported in the past. He was clearly lying about that or perhaps can’t read since there are plenty of reviews that note the noise problems and terrible mattresses. I could actually hear someone throwing up one morning from the room next to ours and another night was woken up by the door being slammed from another one of the hotels rooms. ||For the price you pay for the rooms, you’d think they would use some of that money to update their beds, mattresses and pillows. ||Hopefully they will make some changes to make their guests more comfortable and provide Mario with some basic training on...
Read morePlease be aware of my experience at Hotel Burchianti in Florence, Italy.|||| I had booked the Panoramic suite for 5 days. It was photographed with a wide-angle lens and was very different than advertised. The best way to describe this room was that is was a very run down suite. ||||For example, the closet door was hanging by one hinge, the fireplace didn't have gas or ability to be wood burning, the TV was barely attached to the wall and cables strewn down the wall, the bed was hard and uncomfortable and had two twins shoved together. So there was a gap in the middle. There was less than 6 inches to manoeuvre around the bed. The walls around the bed were dirty and there were dead bugs mushed into the wall. The safe had a low battery warning, not ideal to put things in it. ||||Within 30 minutes of being in the suite I emailed the manager of my concerns and asked what the cancellation policy was. He said 3 days. So, I emailed him back and said I was cancelling Thursday and Friday. I was later told there was no refund for the week I had paid because I received a discount when I booked directly with the hotel. ||||I'm disputing this with my credit card company as I only stayed 2 nights. It is very important to be able to cancel when a suite is falsely advertised.||||I want other travellers to be aware of my experience and not to have to go through what I did. Not sure how they have good reviews, can't believe others had a great...
