Excellent location down the street from the Medici chapels and the central market and very close to the cathedral. It’s useful to know that this B&B is on the 2nd floor of the building and split into 2 sections. Our deluxe double was across the courtyard, as described online, but it neglected to mention the need to go down one lift, cross the courtyard, which is also the smokers area, and then go back up another lift to go to breakfast. The room was clean, reasonably spacious and the bed was comfortable. A proper overhead shower with a consistent water temperature would have been nice. There was a courtesy tray which was well supplied for tea drinkers, but only had 2 sachets of coffee. It also had a small bowl of unpackaged nut mix, a hospitable gesture but no way of knowing if it was fresh. Breakfast was a good range of different items with coffee made fresh when you arrive at your table. Turnover was a little erratic, very stale bread one day and once the B&B filled up items often ran out although they were replaced reasonably quickly. The breakfast area is a corner of the reception/kitchen/wash up area/office making it quite busy at times. Our room backed onto the corridor where the cleaners kept their supplies and between their early arrival, the passage of other guests down the corridor and the church bells which start up at 0645 a peaceful holiday lie-in was never...
Read moreWe stayed in the suite for 2 nights. The hotel has very strategic location. All places you want to see in Florence are walking distance, not more than 5min to the train central station and tram T2 to the airport. The room was well equipped, clean and spacious and staff was friendly. But the minuses are following….. insufficient water pressure so you cannot have really hot shower. May be in summer nobody needs it, but when we come, the room temperature was little bit over 20C. There was no real comfortable blanket…. The solo topic is breakfast. They serve breakfast in the reception in 2nd floor. Really tiny place. Very low comfort to have a breakfast there. At the bar there is a place only for one person. If all tables are busy, somebody can’t move and go for food without asking another person to give him space… really unpleasant. The choice of food was as well limited, no hot dishes like eggs or sausages, ham etc. We have chosen this hotel as well because of the references “nice breakfast”.. I have to say, it’s not reality. I like the room, but I don’t see...
Read moreWe had a great stay at Residenza Castiglioni. A little bit of difficulty getting in,because I use a wheelchair and steps were a little higher to overcome. Gladly the owner of this place and his daughter Christina were able to help me with this and they made me a ramp, which we could use and it helped us tremendously. Thank you very much guys!!!
For everything else: It is a perfect location very close to everything. All the restaurants are also right at your door. Room was very very spacious and easily accessible for the wheelchair. This was the most beautiful room on all of our long European cities (including cities in Italy). As soon as you enter the room you get the impression - you'll be the king and queen for as long as you stay and it did make us feel this way. Huge bed, large windows and high ceilings with antique decorations!!! We really enjoyed our stay!!! Hosts were very welcoming and willing to help with everything!!!
Thank you for this great experience and have a...
