🔥 Best meal in Florence!
After spending the whole day walking around super-hot Florence (40°C 🥵), we were ready to give up on finding a decent Italian meal and just drive away. But on the way to the car, in a tiny side street, I spotted this charming little restaurant. I quickly checked the reviews, got curious, and thought—okay, let’s see if it’s really as good as people say.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted so warmly. They brought us a bottle of sparkling water right away, and after a quick refresh in the clean restroom (ladies’ products, baby wipes—what a thoughtful touch!), we were ready to eat.
The menu was a bit too large for my taste, and I was concerned the food quality might not meet my expectations. This is our 10th summer vacation in Italy, and I’ve tried many different flavors and regional specialties, so I can be very picky when it comes to food and wine. We ordered linguine with seafood, spaghetti with tomato sauce, carbonara, and lasagna. I tasted the white wine, and it was delicious—dry, smooth, and perfectly chilled.
I cannot describe how impressed we were when our dishes arrived! The aroma and the taste! Everything was incredibly delicious, freshly prepared, and clearly made with a lot of love and skill. Ottimo cibo!
This was without doubt one of the best—if not the best—meals we have ever had in Italy.
The bill? About €80 total (€20 per person!)—amazing value for the quality.
I can warmly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Italian food in Florence, a pleasant atmosphere with calming chill music, and excellent service. Once you taste it, you’ll want to keep coming back.

Read moreFlorence has a lot of good restaurants, so when you find one that really stands out, it’s a win! That is Ristorante Il Morellino! We found it based on reviews, and having been in Florence for a couple days, we had enjoyed some great meals. So our experience with Morellino is striking. First, seated right away, servers were very attentive without being imposing. We wanted to sample dishes so we ordered things in stages. The staff said no problem, and even checked with us to make sure the timing was what we wanted for food coming out. We started with toast with chicken liver pate, huge winner! Really well made, subtle flavors while still being a fresh made pate. Grilled octopus was our other first course, cooked perfectly and not over seasoned. The pecorino and pear ravioli was next, amazing complement of salty cheese and slightly sweet fruit. We ordered a sequence of truffle risotto, truffle pasta, and truffle steak. This is fresh truffle shaved on the dishes, not stinky truffle oil. The menu is extensive, so if you want pasta with meat sauce, or Carbonara, they are there too. The staff really wants you to enjoy the whole experience, which is so appreciated. One party in our group just arrived from Milan and commented that Ristorante Il Morellino was as good as a 3 Star Michelin restaurant he just ate at in Milan. Make reservations, there were a lot of walk ups who couldn’t get in. Pricing is reasonable, with a nice wine list that covers all price points with local...
Read more5 Stars – Fresh Pasta, Great Service, and a Wonderful Experience We had a lovely dining experience at this Italian restaurant during our trip. We started with the Pear cheese ravioli, made with fresh pasta, and let me tell you—it was divine. Easily one of the best ravioli dishes I had while in Italy—rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked.
I also ordered the seabass, which was fresh and well-prepared, and my husband had the chicken parm, which he said was absolutely heavenly. The service was excellent—everyone was kind, attentive, and made us feel very welcome.
To end the meal, we shared a crème brûlée, and it was the perfect finale. It was rich, creamy, and absolutely heavenly—with that perfectly crisp caramelized top and silky smooth custard underneath. A truly indulgent dessert that left us completely satisfied.
I definitely recommend making a reservation, as the restaurant does get quite busy. Overall, a very pleasant and memorable experience. This spot is well worth a visit if you’re...
