We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and booked the presidential suite|The highlight beyond doubt of the hotel is the location it’s perfect to visit all attractions and bars & restaurants |If honest we were a bit disappointed with the service in the hotel|The breakfast on the first morning was what I would describe as chaotic, when we arrived there was no tables, they were either dirty or not made up and we had to ask for glasses, cups, plates etc and they had also ran out so had to be brought from the kitchen, a number of the dishes had ran out too, it was definitely better on day 2 and 3 |The roof terrace in our suite was lovely but the one sunbed had been ripped by a previous customer so we sat on the chairs, there appeared to be no towels for the terrace so we called to reception and they told us just to use the bathroom towels and they would send up some more. That evening when we came back from dinner reception advised us housekeeping had removed the old towels from the terrace and left news ones, when we got to the room that had done this but left all the used bathroom towels from our shower earlier, the second night all towels were removed and replaced but the third night there appeared to be no housekeeping at all as all old towels were left|On the second day when we left the hotel for the day reception asked if it was ok for housekeeping to clean our room, this did not happen on the third day. We arrived back to the hotel 1230 ish to pick up something and reception advised our room had not been cleaned as we were supposed to take a card out of the aircon to indicate to housekeeping the room was free and had not done this! We have no recollection of being advised to do so! Reception advised we were lucky though as housekeeping there till 2pm so our room could still be cleaned! I think maybe a better system needs put in place for this|Lastly the evening before we left we went to reception to settle the city tax as we were leaving early the next day, the gentleman asked if we had taken anything from the mini bar which we advised we had not. He then produced a bill with 2 mini bar items on it, we advised again we had not used the mini bar at all during our trip, he then said he would try and prompt our memory and proceeded to pull out this huge file and leaf through it until he found what was taken from the mini bar, we advised again we had taken nothing from the mini bar, he reluctantly advised he would delete it from the bill, it was actually quite embarrassing and having paid in excess of €2K for the room I hardly think we would try and get away with a €6 mini bar bill!|Overall we enjoyed our stay but think some of the service...
Read moreThere could not be a better location. The only way to see Florence is on foot and there is not a better place to start from than San Firenze Suites.
This hotel has 19 suites and the service is exactly as you would expect from a 5 star boutique hotel. The AC was cold, the shower hot and with great water pressure. The bed, pillows and sheets were so comfortable that I had the best nights of sleep since I arrived in Italy
The staff is friendly and helpful. Everyone I met spoke English very well. I had a massage in their spa that was very relaxing. Reception was there to help with anything I needed
The suite was nearly perfect. It was clean well decorated and spacious by European standards. There is one thing you should consider. I was on the 4th floor, which afforded a wonderful view, but the bedroom is above the livingroom. Stairs in Italy are not like those in the US. They are narrow and steep, without handrails.
I would gladly rent this suite again. But if you have difficulty with mobility at all I would ask to be put on a lower floor with a single level room. The bathroom is on the main level. Navigating those stairs at night in the dark could ruin a wonderful vacation.
I've been in Italy for a while. This hotel is in a tie for first place, as the best hotel of my vacation. You will love Florence and you will love this hotel.
Everything is a short walk away. The leather market is 12 minutes. Historic buildings are everywhere. There are 10 restaurants less than a one minute walk away. I found a laundromat two minutes from the hotel's front door. The hotel recommended a very nice gym, called KLAB that was 6 minutes away on foot. The train Station is a 15 minute walk and the airport is a 30 minute taxi ride.
I walked from the train station and did not need a taxi from the time I arrived until I left for the airport. The photos I included were taken from the window of my...
Read moreAnother fantastic hotel in Italy...It's hard to find a bad location in the middle of Florence but this one was around the corner from the Uffizi gallery, a 5 minute walk to the Duomo in one direction and the river in the other. (And generally no more than 10 minutes by foot to wherever you wanted to go. It was perfect.
It was also super-nice. We had a "deluxe luxury suite." The room was recently renovated and was very tasteful and spacious. It was basically only one room though (plus a bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, separate closet area, and a balcony facing the interior of the hotel) and our sensibility typically says a suite would have a living space separate from the bedroom, so that was a tiny bit disappointing since one of us likes to stay up later and have a place to do that outside of the bed.) So although that was minorly disappointing, the room itself was really nice, modern while still fitting into a classic Italian vibe, luxurious feeling, and with a view of the Duoma directly outside the window.
The breakfast was alright...they had everything we needed including some gluten free options for my wife and coffee drinks made to order for us, though we've seen better looking spreads at other places.
Besides the location, the true star of the place where the super friendly, warm and helpful staff. We spent a lot of time talking with Santiago and Allesandro who got to know us well, and who were beyond helpful with everything we could want from very specific restaurant recommendations to helpful information about the ongoing, intermittent transportation strikes and how they would affect us.
We were sad to leave when our 4 night stay was over. You couldn't beat the location and...
