What a pleasant surprise! My wife and I were told about this place by some friends who live in Rome (we live in a village about an hour and a half away). I am a retired American and lived in New York City where there are thousands of great restaurants, many of which I have been to. So they thought I would appreciate it. We have been there twice in the past few weeks and can’t say enough about the food, the staff, the atmosphere, the wine list, etc. This is a true fine restaurant. Alta cucina as they say in Italy. Not a trattoria or osteria that are the norm in Italy. The first time we went we ordered a la carte. There are so many fantastic appetizers, first and second courses and desserts that it is really hard to choose. But choose we did and everything was just delicious. Really the best meal I have had in Italy in 12 years of living here. And at a very reasonable price. The second time we came we opted for the prix fixe menus. They have two, one with meat and one with fish dishes. You can have 4, 7 or 9 courses. We chose the 7 course option. I had the meat and my wife the fish. What a rare treat. And the next best meal I have had in Italy. The price is 70 euros for the 7 courses. In NYC you would be talking about $200-$250 at least. What a bargain. And they pair wine with them if you wish. Speaking of wine, the list is terrific with great selections from around Italy. Reds, whites, roses and sparkling options. An unusual thing for an Italian restaurant are offerings from other countries. Mostly French. In talking to Andrea, the young owner of Artesfizio, they also have lunch specials and will be offering a theater special for those attending the Sistina Theater right across the street. Finally, I would just like to say how welcoming and professional the staff is. One in particular lived in NYC for many years and speaks perfect English for those of you not fluent in Italian (that would include me). One final note is that in doing research before going I came across some reviews that were not all that high. I asked about them and found out that while the restaurant and name are the same as before, the ownership and the menu are new. Open for about two months. Completely different restaurant. As the recent 5 star reviews reflect. Give it a...
Read moreTerrible. I never wrote any comment on Google about restaurants but for this one it was impossible not to do it. Let me explain. We randomly went there as we just arrived in Rome a few hours earlier (couple) and how to say it politely, it was our worst experience ever. First of all, we waited 20min before we received menus (can happen if very crowded but that was not even the case). After finally receiving menus, we simply ordered two pizzas and two glasses of wine plus a bottle of water. The restaurant was not full at all but we almost never received the wine (had to ask several times). We waited almost an hour for two pizzas and when they arrived, how to describe the weird situation that happened next.. the waitress firstly brought us two pizzas and introduced them with names that we did not order. So we decided to tell her about the mistake and she said “oh yes sorry I forgot the correct name but it is actually the ones you ordered” and we had to show her the menu in order to make her admit she made a mistake. She added that “it was not her fault but rather the chef’s one and that she couldn’t do anything”. She finally proposed to quickly cook another one but we were not really sure because we already waited a long time for the first round but we finally accepted the proposal. Terrible mistake. She brought us a pizza that was not even cooked.... and was smiling at us at the same time. I couldn’t realize what was going on and decided to see the chef because I was getting really nervous. After explaining the situation, the chef told me he did not even have a proper oven to prepare pizzas, plus that he was sick and weird things like this. Also, during the whole scene, there was a person around that seemed to be the boss, but he did not do anything to smooth the whole thing. Can you imagine the situation? You have a pizzeria in the downtown of Rome but you don’t have a pizza oven. After discussing with other people sitting at surrounding tables, the situation seemed to as bad as our as we could see they were getting angry as well. Today’s lesson learned is that you better systematically check on Google/TripAdvisor before you choose a restaurant in Rome, as weird as it might sound in the country of...

From the moment we stepped into the cozy embrace of Artisfizio we were greeted with the kind of warmth that only true Italian hospitality can offer. The staff, attentive and genuinely caring, made us feel like family. We just had travelled for day and once we stepped in , they took care to keep aside our baggage .Their patience and consideration shone brightly as they catered to our little one's preferences, ensuring his meal was not only nutritious but also delightfully palatable to his young palate.
The maître d', with an eye for detail and a heart for service, guided us through an exquisite menu. His recommendations were spot on – the pizza was a slice of heaven, with the perfect balance of tangy tomato sauce and creamy mozzarella on a crispy, yet airy crust. The pasta, Each forkful of the Alfredo was a creamy dream, and had just the right kick to tantalize the taste buds without overwhelming them.
But it wasn't just the food that made our experience memorable; it was the way the staff went above and beyond. They brought smiles and giggles to our child's face with playful banter and little surprises, turning an ordinary meal into an extraordinary experience.
In a world where dining out with children can sometimes be a challenge, Artesfizio stands out as a beacon of hope, proving that fine dining and family-friendly can indeed go hand in hand. We left with full bellies, warm hearts, and the certainty that we would return to relive the magic of this culinary gem. Special wishes to good staff who minded everyone there personaly and well,...
