There are many negative things to say about my experience at the Mirko Inn. The most important and disgusting is that when we arrived the room had not been properly cleaned between occupants: there was obvious lipstick and semen from sex from the people before us on the sheets and on the cover blanket. I immediately called Pietro(maybe the owner?) and complained about this and asked for the bedding to be changed asap. A very reasonable request to not have someone else's dirty sex sheets. He did not even offer to do it immediately but apparently expected us to sleep in someone else's dirty blankets for the first night we paid for at this Inn. Not very luxurious or professional at all.The blankets were clearly dirty and smelled unclean. The shower had also clearly not been cleaned, huge clumps of hair were in the shower and it looked moldy. There was also what appeared to be smeared poop across the bathroom wall by the toilet, also dirty upon our arrival. The next morning we asked the cleaning person in a note to be sure to replace all blankets and clean the shower. After sleeping in a dirty bed the first night (unacceptable), we returned home the second night to find only the sheets replaced: the dirty blanket with semen on it was still there! And the shower had still not been cleaned. I was disgusted and emailed and called Pietro demanding a change that second night. He said didn't realize all the bedding needed to be replaced - how could he find that acceptable? He basically blamed me for not being specific enough. If the sheets are dirty that means the whole bedding needs replacing /cleaning, and he should have made sure himself it was cleaned. But apparently, he saw no need to have it changed until our last day in Rome. So for 2 of the 3 nights we paid to stay here, we were forced to sleep with dirty sex sheets. Obviously unacceptable for any hotel - that is the main job /service it should be giving, a clean, respectable and safe space. But he acted as if it was not a major issue and we should be happy with our "nice biggest room at a convenient price." So he basically excuses not cleaning the rooms between guests and said they did everything else good but sorry it was not perfect but he thought it had been close enough to perfect - those were his words after my complaint about 2 nights of a dirty/semen bed and dirty bathroom. Before we even arrived we got multiple emails asking us to arrive before 9, use their overpriced shuttle service and pay in cash. There is a late fee after 9 that increases every half hour - ridiculous. My boyfriend and I did our best to accommodate the requests of Pietro=be on time, pay cash, leave on time, and he did basically nothing for our requests and made excuses for disgusting things. The location was decent, close to a tram stop and in a nice building and of course, Rome is a lovely city that I visit frequently, but I will never stay here again and encourage everyone to avoid this Inn. Because of the dirty condition and the Inn itslf has terrible service: never saw the owner or any staff after we got the key, there was no breakfast only coffee the first morning. Then they replaced the dirty coffee mugs but gave no new coffee. No extra or clean blankets or pillows (only two extra pillows without cases in the closet - also gross), and they never replaced the few towels we were provided with. And we left the extra pillows on the bed hinting that we would like to use more than the only two pillows provided, and they did not ever provide pillow cases for those either. Finally, after two nights the blanket was replaced and the shower was cleaned, and the owner said he hoped it was clean (by our last night there). And he "might" have to fire the cleaning person, but offered no discount or real apology for our dirty room. He apparently thought we got a bargain. Do not stay here, find someplace else /an actual hotel with a front desk and night service, and a clean bed. I would rate it higher for the location/general nice- ness of the room and the bed was comfortable - but obviously, no one is going to sleep well with dirty blankets, knowing the bed has not been cleaned between guests. There were so many mistakes and excuses from the owner, that it is really not worth taking the risk to stay here despite the few...
Read moreWe stayed at Mirko for 3 nights during our month long visit to Various countries in Europe. We sent Mirko an email letting him know our arrival time before we left France, every once we arrived in Rome our GPS took us on a wild goose chase and we ended up being two hours late to check in. I felt awful as Mirko is not on the property full-time and had to wait on us. I was also unable to send him notice that we were going to be late since I did not have cellular in Italy. He was gracious and quickly showed us to our room and showed us all of the amenities it offered. We really liked the water in the kitchen area of the main inn, as well as the espresso and cappuccino machines in the individual rooms. We also liked the little packages of breakfast pastries that are complementary in the rooms. The hotel is located in a large building that has a mix of residential and commercial properties. We felt very safe with the locked off courtyard at the Mirko. The elevator ride to the fourth floor is quite entertaining and requires you to follow the directions carefully on opening and closing the elevator. The room was modern, recently renovated and had a wonderful memory foam bed. The Colosseum is about a 25 minute walk from the hotel or an 8 minute transit ride. Public transportation is also nearby the hotel a bout a 10 minute walk. The area around the hotel has lots of cafés and residential properties. It also looks out onto the aqueduct park. From my understanding this park is kind of like a ongoing swapmeet or yard sale for the people of Rome. Not the cleanest streets as people tend to throw away anything that they do not sell and the garbage bins are often overflowing. Despite the surrounding area, the hotel was lovely. Be sure to doublecheck the checkout time. We were surprised that it was 10 AM, and had to rush to get out as the cleaning crew was knocking on the door. I've stayed in various hotels around Rome and this one was great, the price you couldn't beat, and Mirko you can tell is trying to do his best with his...
