I would give 0 stars if it was possible. We were hungry with the family and it was one of few restaurants open around 5 pm. We ordered insalate with octopus and mix of Mediterranean food to share for 2, white wine and pizzas for the kids. The waiter brought first bread as an appetiser for waiting, but without plates and the olive was served in sachets, so how we were supposed to taste the bread and soak it in olive? The glas of wine was served to the table already filled, instead of being poured at customer’s presence, not mentioning that the customer should be asked to taste the first sip to assess the quality. Additionally, the white wine wasn’t chilled enough. Octopus was like rubber and the mix of Mediterranean food was not tasty, the portions were really small and served in small low quality bowls even without a plate (it was supposed to be shared). Savoir vivre of the waiters left a lot to be desired. The only decent dish were pizzas, but they were served as the last and the kids had to wait for their food the longest. Remember, don’t you ever be lured by restaurants with beaters. (The beater of this restaurant was wearing signet rings on each finger which was very pretense and coarsen). Their business model is to once catch clients that will never come back. We highly regret this experience. It is definitely not good value for money....

Overall a not so pleasant experience. The vegetarian pizza and the sea view were the only nice things about this place. Inattentive and chaotic staff. Had to wait for about 10 minutes before someone came over and it was not busy at the time. I asked for some vegetarian recommendations and the guy reluctantly pointed at a couple of pasta dishes. None of the staff members speak English at all. There was an issue at two of the tables next to me - one with the drinks and one with the wait time for the check. The restroom was being cleaned for like 20 minutes at lunch time. Door didn’t lock. *Important: Al Vecchio Lavatoio (the old wash room, one of the sights in Ortigia) is located under the restaurant. Very good food, service and view. We stopped by at 11.30 and the restaurant crew was eating together, outdoors at one of the tables. One of them told us they open at mezzogiorno (noon), and they looked so contented that we simply had to return. The menu was posted and it’s vegan-friendly (that’s fairly common in Siracusa, btw). I had cavati alla turidda (photo), my wife had spaghetti pomodoro alla basil. Service was prompt. And, Dio mio, we didn’t require a UN Security Council resolution to receive the check - which is simply paid at the counter, the server doesn’t handle transactions. Note that a tip (coperto) is charged on your bill, but it’s still ok to leave a euro or two on the table if you think they deserve it. We did.

Lonely traveler and wanted a seaside view restaurant.... Sadly most nice places are touristic. And I knew I shouldnt have gone... But I did. Ordered Vongele.... Not tasteful.... Glass of red wine.... Okay it's hot but your wine shouldn't be as hot or warmer than outside. Asked for ice. They dropped it on the table like nothing. I was still smiling and polite and even tipped.... But maybe people should read reviews more often. A little effort in the kitchen and service could turn this place into a gem. And location isn't all because it's high season and it wasn't full at all.... So maybe time for them to....change?
