Pros:|Ca' dei Dogi is a great little boutique hotel in Venice! It's location in relation the the Doge' Palace and St. Mark's Basilica, the two biggest places to visit, is PERFECT. Its also perfectly located to water taxi stands. If you never been to Venice its hard to understand the long and winding route you will have to carry, roll, or drag your luggage to get to your hotel once your water taxi drops you off. If you get dropped off at the closest stops you will only have to cross one bridge with your luggage.||We rented one of the apartments. Specifically, we were in the Moon apartment and it was very good. It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a kitchen. The air conditioning is fully functional and if you're an American used to having air conditioning you will appreciate it. The beds are comfortable and can sleep two adults in them no problem. In one bedroom is a futon and according to my 6'1" was very comfortable according to him. This larger space should sit well with Americans and Canadians who are used to larger spaces when traveling.||The staff was super nice and helpful. Susanna was particularly helpful in a credit card payment problem. We encountered some issues while trying to reserve the apartment and she was understanding and responsive in our communication back and forth in getting the problem resolved. ||Cons:||One of the bathrooms was not as clean as it should be and not as clean at the other. There was a ton of long strands of hair on the floor and in the drains of one of the bathrooms. We've seen worse but after a long international flight the last thing you want to do is clean the bathroom.||The futon mattress was comfortable but the fake leather covering was cracking and crumbling which left bits of itself all over the floor each morning. They do not do a daily cleaning service on the apartments so its up to you to clean it or ignore it.||The lack of free breakfast for the apartments is a bit of a disappointment. Ca' dei Dogi only has three apartments and while they have kitchens I don't think denying the free breakfast because of it is justified. Its not completely clear about this fact when booking also. I would suspect the people renting the apartments are either larger families that would appreciate not having to cook or go find a breakfast place every day. Or their international visitors like us and have no clue, or desire, to got stock up a kitchen. Which would require finding a grocery store and we never saw one while there. We saw little convenience stores with a small selection of fruit and snacks but no proper grocery store. If Ca' dei Dogi reads this, I hope they include the apartments for the free breakfast in the future.||Overall I would stay there again and I would recommend it to just about anyone. I would not recommend it to anyone with mobility issues as there is no elevator, only stairs, but other than that it was an...

Read moreI stayed at Ca ‘dei Dogi for 2 nights traveling alone in Venice and it was perfect. These are the reasons why it worked really well for me: I was looking for a place that was central to everything there is to see in Venice and the location of this hotel is perfect It is very well priced compared to other hotels in the area It’s also VERY easy to get to via water taxi with very clear directions provided by the hotel. The walk to get here from the water taxi drop off at San Zaccaria is very short (3-5 minutes) I was a woman traveling alone and felt very safe in and around the hotel (even when I was walking in the area alone past midnight) I booked the single room and given I’m 5’2”, sleeping in a twin sized bed (which I haven’t done since I was a child) was perfectly fine and comfortable. Also comfortable was the awesome air conditioning they have and modern bathroom. If you are tall, or large, you likely can’t sit on the toilet comfortably without your knees hitting the wall. It’s quite small, but again, for me.. perfect. I also travel with very little luggage (a small carry on) and given how small the room is, if you have large luggage or a lot of it- it’d likely be a problem.
Other things I loved about the hotel are: They served breakfast on site and it was... well, A LOT of food. It was good and most importantly: they have coffee Service is extremely friendly and everyone is willing to help you with anything you need (the front desk will help you with They don’t do laundry but are located a 3 minute walk from a laundromat where you can do your own wash It’s not a large place. There is the tiniest common space with a table at the entrance (and also their restaurant), and I was looking for a smaller hotel with fewer rooms (read as: no crowd). I wanted to do all my exploring OUT, so being at the hotel was not important to me. As a result of being so small, it’s easy to whip out of your room and be on the streets in no time (vs being at a huge hotel, walking down lonnnng hallways, waiting for and riding long elevators, etc).
I recommend staying here if you...
