Love love loved this hotel.
We spent two nights in the Casanova Room in June and couldn’t have been happier. It was expensive but that’s Venice. The location is amazing, right on the Grand Canal, a stone’s throw from the Rialto Bridge. The room itself has a view of one of the smaller canals.
The building had to be hundreds of years old, yet the room had every modern amenity (while still maintaining the charm of Venice). The bathroom was large and well equipped, there were plenty of outlets, and the air conditioning was great (which is saying a lot of a hotel in Italy in the summer). My teens shared the pull-out coach, which was surprisingly comfortable and roomy.
Each day they refreshed large containers of still and sparking water in the fridge and on the first day we had a container full of Italian cookies (which did not last until day two). We had a continental breakfast delivered the day we left and found it to be delicious and reasonably priced.
I can’t say enough for how responsive and helpful the staff at this hotel is. I had never stayed in Venice before and because there are no cars inside the island and we had a lot of luggage I had a ton of questions about how to get there from the airport. The hotel always responded quickly and thoroughly, despite the time difference, giving us lots of options and arranging the water taxi for us. When there was an issue where none of the water taxis were allowed to leave the airport that day the staff at the hotel got us a car to the bus station and a water taxi to the hotel, walking us through the process.
I will warn anyone that a water taxi is very expensive. There is a Vaporetto (water bus) station right in front of the hotel, which is a much cheaper option to get to the bus station. I had heard, however, that they may charge you double if you have a lot of luggage. We didn’t have a lot but our bags were large and I was worried about maneuvering them. I did see many people getting on the vaporetto with luggage, but most of their bags seemed smaller than ours.
The only other small warning I will add is that while they have an elevator in the Residence part of the hotel, you need to manage a few stairs to get to it and then a few more once you get off. Though, if you can’t do that many steps I strongly suggest you reconsider Venice. It’s an...

Read moreWe went to Venice for my father's 70th Birthday. He got an upgrade and also a bottle of sparkling wine from the hotel. Hotel staff were very friendly and kind. They helped us with all requests and were very supportive. They spoke Italian, English and German. Breakfast was delicious and was served either at EGO' Boutique Hotel (located in same building) facing the Canale Grande or in the room. Located at the Palazzo Bembo all sights were at a walking distance. The vaporetto station Rialto is right in front of the hotel. Also the Alilaguna airport transfer departs right in front of the hotel. A supermarket with reasonable prices is in the same building. The room was spacious, quiet and clean facing rio die san Salvador with Gondolas passing by. We had a water kettle, Nespresso coffee maker, Fridge (with water) and cookies in our room. There is a kitchen that all guests can use, with a microwave, coffee, cuttlery, plates, fridge etc. with is really convenient. There are a lot of restaurants nearby. I was a bit skeptical about all the good reviews, but they don't even give this hotel, the staff and the location justices as it is a perfect stay. We will...
