I'm writing this review out of my responsibility to other travelers who may consider staying at this particular hotel, which I'd highly advise against. Despite its seemingly attractive features, the reality is far from what you might expect, and I hope my experience will serve as a warning.
The hotel's location is undeniably great, providing a breathtaking view of the canal that initially drew us to it. On the surface, the promise of a room with a canal view sounds idyllic. However, the reality was far from idyllic. The pervasive unpleasant odor in the room was the first red flag, spoiling the otherwise enjoyable view.
Moreover, while the hotel's website or descriptions may not explicitly mention it, be aware that they do not turn on the air conditioning until May, coinciding with the Italian summer. This results in a stiflingly hot environment within the rooms. You might think opening a window would provide a solution, but doing so ushers in a swarm of mosquitoes, transforming your room into a hotbed of buzzing discomfort.
Sleeping in such conditions becomes an almost impossible task. The incessant whirring of mosquitoes in your ears throughout the night will leave you tossing and turning, depriving you of the rest you'd expect from a hotel stay.
It's worth noting that this appears to be the only hotel in Italy with such a bizarre policy regarding air conditioning. So, my advice to potential guests is to steer clear of this establishment until they change their AC policy, or at least until the summer season commences.
While the hotel's location may initially seem worth the price, the discomfort of hot, mosquito-filled nights and the lingering unpleasant smell can drastically tarnish your experience. There are numerous other hotels in Italy that offer comparable views without sacrificing basic amenities and comfort. Take your hard-earned money and your well-deserved...

Palace Bonvecchiati is in a good location, close to Canal Grande and its "vaporetti" as well as to Piazza San Marco.
Quick, friendly check-in including an upgrading to a very nice room with a balcony looking at a bridge, a palazzo with statues on top and to my own Peacock Alley.
Then, a gentleman ushered me to my room (nowadays a courtesy only seen in a few five stars hotel) explaining the room features (many) and that there was a housekeeping evening service to prepare the rooms for the night.So far so very good.
And that was it:
• Bed was not a king-size but two twins put together, to my obvious discomfort;
• A housekeeping trolley stand outside my room for the whole stay. I will not describe the disgusting views I had to endure;
• Reception staff seasoned in dodging questions or addressing queries or simply “played surprised” .
Said staff were a lot more concerned on my check-out date than on doing something to improve the quality of the housekeeping or the TV signal I was getting (again, to no avail).
• In all hotels I ever stayed in Italy, regardless of the way I made my reservation (directly with the hotel, Expedia, Booking, etc.) I always paid the same rate for an extra night. For the first time ever I was overcharged.
Just forget about hot water. Lukewarm at best courtesy from a centralized heater or something like that
The light at the end of the tunnel, certainly breakfast, both for efficient service and food quality, in charge of a lady from Ferrara with an outstanding vocation for PR.

Read moreGreat place to stay in venice. Pretty large rooms compared to other hotels. Clean, comfortable and classy! Complete ameneties. They also have a small fitness center and a free jacuzzi beside the gym where you can enjoy after a long day of tour. Really recommend this nice hotel. Old but gold. Their breakfast is okay, don't expect fancy food. We stayed there for 4 nights and no complaints whatsoever. The houskeeper, old lady, is really kind and helpful and keeps our room neat and tidy! A young guy at the front office is very helpful to us when we needed some informations.
The hotel is very near the Rialto station, around 3 to 5 minutes walk, alongside is the supermarket named COOP which is the best supermarket in town in our opinion. This hotel has full of restaurants and shops for clothes and souvenirs around it too. Plus, a 8 to 10 minutes walk to the SanMarco Square.
And if you fancy some fine dining experience, try Bistrot De Venice, just almost in front of this hotel! Really enjoyed our stay here! 5⭐
