This is a bad hotel, very irresponsibly run. The front desk managers are nice and do what they can to be helpful, but there is so much they can do to make up for the owner's lack of responsibility and ineptitude. We arrived on Thursday. It was very hot in the room. The A/C was not working. I pointed that out to the manager. He was not aware. It took them until Monday next week (5 days!) to fix their air conditioner. In the meanwhile, it was very hot and stifling in the room. We opened the window and, 5 min later, the room was full of mosquitoes. There are no screens in the windows, of course. We woke up the next morning with faces and shoulders covered with red mosquito bites. Ironically, on Monday, after they fixed the A/C, nothing changed. Even though it was blowing all the time, the air inside the room remained hot and uncomfortable. The maid, for some reason, would never replenish soap and bottled water that, according to the manager, was supposed to be available for free. The little fridge was always hot to touch and leaking water. There was always a puddle of water around it which, I am sure, worked fine for mosquitoes, but not so much for me. I don't understand why it was even plugged in, since there was nothing in it. Maybe to warm up the room. It was very noisy all the time. If anyone opened the entrance door downstairs, you would hear that, even if your room is on the second floor. Also, the...
Read moreThis hotel was perfect for what we wanted- a base to sleep, shower and change inbetween exploring Venice. As hotels in Venice are so expensive, we decided to go for this one. There is no view- unless you call a brick wall a view, but we don't go places to spend a long time in a hotel so it didn't matter to us. The room was basic, but adequate, and had a little fridge that was big enough to fit a few cans of drink and some yoghurts- a welcome thing in such an expensive city.||||Check-in was in nearby hotel dell'opera- we did our research, printed off a map and was given one by the other hotel as to where to find Favaro, but even then it was tricky, as the street it is located in is basically like an alleyway. We soon learnt how to navigate Venice's winding side streets, but be warned that it might not be the easiest place to find. It is about 20 seconds walk from lots of high end shops like Chanel and Gucci, so bear that in mind when trying to find it. On that note, location was excellent- very central and near to a pharmacy and lots of little cafes etc. perfect location for getting around- also quite close to a waterbus terminal.||||All in all, I would say this I was very happy with this no-frills hotel. One piece of advice is to try and avoid the first room on the ground floor where we were, as this was next to the front door- which was quite heavy and left to slam shut every time someone...
Read moreI was a little nervous after booking at Residenza Favaro and reading some reviews, but we found it an outstanding little place! Perfect location, only minutes walk to St Mark’s Square And the Rialto Bridge.|We had the top floor apartment which was a little rough on us riddled with arthritis, hiking up the 4 narrow flights of stairs with heavy luggage, but we couldn’t have been much happier. Gorgeous and clean room with loft bedroom area.|The bed was very hard would be our only real complaint, but as far as value for money and location, we were thrilled with our stay here! Located second doorway on the left, down an alleyway to the left of Giorgio Armani, it was not hard to find , and neither was the Hotel D’Opera where we had to check in. (Standing in front of Giorgio Armani, alleyway on the opposite side to the right, go down there and across a little bridge and immediately to the left, check in is there, and literally a 1 min walk away)|Give it a miss if you can’t do stairs, but otherwise, it was a quaint little place, extremely clean, and incredibly good value for money in very expensive Venice!! The stairs for us personally would be the only reason we would probably give it a miss if we visit Venice again! And wifi is a little...
