When we arrived I thought "Oh my God!" its just a door on a backstreet. We arrived late and Stefania text me to ask if we had arrived at the airport and when was she likely to expect us to arrive. This was a great touch which was the start of the fantastic hospitality we experienced during our stay.||||The room we stayed in was Number 8, it was amazing. Very clean and rustic with boat loads of character. There was lots of space and even though the room looked over the main shopping street it was quiet and peaceful.||||The breakfast was served upstairs by the owner Nicoletta. A continental breakfast with fabulous pastries and Italian delights. The coffee was freshly brewed and set you up well for the day.||||As for the location, you couldn't ask for anything better. We travelled to see the Opera in the Verona Arena which you can see from the window its that close. Everything worth seeing in Verona is on your doorstep from this B&B. You must try the small and very amazing Licoretti bar on the street just a few doors down from the property.||||All in all a marvellous place, great location and hosts. Well worth a try you wont be...
Read moreThis is a place that is a little bit unusual. The Bed and Breakfast All'Opera Prima is placed in an old historic building in the center of Verona. A few hundreth meters from the famous arena. Hard to see from the outside, that this really is a Building with a hotel. Reception is found on the 4th floor. You either use the stairs or - if you dare - enter a very small, strange lift that s l o w l y brings you up to the hotel entrance. When I say s l o w l y this is really an understatement. You first have to figure out how to call the lift. You push a button (up to 5 minutes) to bring the lift down to you. Once you enter into the lift you push (continuously) another button (4th floor for instance) untill you get there. Beware not to place anything near the walls of the lift. Otherwise you might get stuck on the way ...||Anyway - the rooms are nice, quite large and clean with big bathrooms. Breakfast is adequate. Expect a lot of noise during the night coming from the narrow street running NeXT...
Read moreThis B & B is right in the centre of the city, next to Piazza Bra and Via Mazzini, the main shopping street. That's the best thing you can say about it. It is reached by a very unprepossessing street entrance with a dingy entrance hall. We found it very awkward to get our heavy cases up the stairs and into the tiny lift. The person who showed us our room was not resident on site, and did not give us any contact details. Our room used to be a bedsit room with mini-kitchen, but the kitchen had been crudely partitioned off with a venetian blind. It overlooked via Alberto Maria and was VERY noisy, with rubbish collections right below at 5:30 and 6:30 am. No effort was made with breakfast: no fresh fruit and poor-quality bread, served in a cluttered room. On the positive side everything was nice and clean and the rooms are...
