HOSTEL THE NEXT DOOR — Hotel in Kyoto

My stay was supposed be aug,1,2024 - aug, 7, 2024. Where to start. First of all it’s a horrible location and almost a dead zone for places to eat near by, they don’t clean anything, the stairs are almost vertical, no proper a/c other than in the locked room at very top that you share with other people, booked for 6 nights was only able to tough it out for 2 before finding another place. Here’s the kicker, they flex about the roof top balcony but you have to buy a drink all the way down on the first floor ¥500 roughly, wait for them to walk the drink all the way back up to the 3rd floor to unlock the door then you have to walk all the way back down to the first floor to tell them you are done. And if you ever wanted to go back up just have repeat those steps. Place almost feels like a scam I’ve stayed at some of the cheapest place in Japan and this takes the cake...

Far from the city, but conveniently close to the train station. When I checked in, I had the entire floor to myself from the 1st to the 3rd floor wasn't occupied, and I was alone in a 4-bed room for 2 nights. Despite initial doubts, my stay turned out to be comfortable, and it wasn't a scam after all. Given it was a weekday, the emptiness made sense. The shared living room, kitchen, and bathrooms were clean. However, the sides and base of my assigned bed were filled with dirt, human nails, boogers, dry skin, and small plastic bits - quite unpleasant. When I requested a bottom bunk due to a pre-existing bone injury (which I mentioned during booking), it was declined. On the bright side, it's just a one-stop train ride to Kyoto, and the area has convenience stores, groceries, bars, and Toji Temple nearby. NO...

Happy stay!! Perfect stay during cherry blossom blooming!! Quick walk to two different train stations so you can easily get around or you get even walk to the main attractions. There’s a kitchen to use. The facilities are cute and clean!! I slept like a baby with the comfortable beds. The bed was premade. I would happily stay here again if I return to Kyoto!(:
