This is an amazing spot for a tea tasting! Shoko was an amazing hostess who prepared and served me my tea.
I had no reservation but they were able to accommodate. I was shown a few tasting menu options, including listed prices for each. I chose three teas and then was taken to the tea room.
Teas were brought dry so I could see and smell them, displayed with their names hand written. Then Shoko prepared hot water and various steeping and serving vessels. Each of the three teas was brewed three times so I could experience how they changed and tasted differently.
A few sweets were given in a lovely tray with the most delicate, slender chopsticks. After the tea tasting I was able to walk through their small gift shop before settling my bill. Gracious and kind staff and a calm, lovely...

We did the “tea ceremony” which we thought would be like the other tea ceremonies that we’ve done in Japan before where we taste different teas. This was not at all this - they served us one small (and I mean small) cup of matcha as part of how a “tea ceremony” was held traditionally. That was it. The amount of matcha was truly a joke, and to top it off, it was 4400 yen per person. We paid 8800 yen for half a cup of matcha each. Felt like being robbed.
When we arrived, the staff clearly seemed delayed and overwhelmed with too many customers, and we stood in the (cold) reception for 25 minutes before we got seated.

I tried Gyokuro and it was the best tea that I've ever had in my life! I also purchased the beautiful teaware they carry that is made of high quality porcelain. They carry a wide range of matcha bowls, tea cups, and tea kettles.
