We came yesterday after Toji market (myself and my two children aged 13 and 7) and fell in love with Cizool. An independent coffee shop like we love it: unique and full of character, made with love. The atmosphere is great, with very relaxing jazz music in the background and beautiful tableware (retro crystal glasses and painted ceramic plates and coffee cups and saucers). The food is simple but very well made and super tasty (delicious salad and toasts), the coffee is expertly made with a syphon in front of you, and they are very attentive to the service. All the staff have been very kind to my children as well. It felt so good that I even drank 2 coffees during the meal (first time ever I do this!). Everything is made from scratch right in front of you, and the entire scene from the music to the decor to the dishes and cups and tiny yogurt spoons is just magic. What a treat! The French toast was remarkable, and everything we tasted felt like it was made with love— because it was! A special experience my children and I will never ever forget. Actually made me cry sitting at the counter with my happy children playing cards, everyone smiling with delight as the beautiful plates arrived in front of us. Congratulations on an incredible dining experience, and many thanks for this...

All while an image of Napoleon on an old beer mug placed on one of the shelves is staring at you. This is a unique place in Kyoto, right next to one of the principal architectural gems...
