Hamburg & Steak Pound - Umekoji — Restaurant in Kyoto

DO NOT come here!! I've never been in such a bad restaurant. I ordered an avocado wagyu burger, trust me the patty was not wagyu, anything but wagyu. Cat meat is a better candidate given the taste it had. The avocado inside was stale and thinly cut with black marks, the lettuce was old. The patty had a ton of onion inside, it was barely made of beef... I couldn't taste the beef flavor since the onion taste was so strong. My wife ordered the "wagyu" steak, again this was not wagyu as we've eaten many wagyu steaks in our trip. The steak was tough and chewy, we couldn't eat it, it was just normal beef and a bad cut of beef at that. We asked to make it medium rare since it was almost completely raw. They put it on the grill a little more and gave it back to us, it wasn't better. The service is extremely rude, they pushed us to order fast in the beginning and after we asked for a bill the waiter gave us the receipt with one hand and showed no manners or respect. I really loved this place, the food was very delicious but was a little pricey for some of the nicer Wagyu options. If you are tired of eating Japanese food I would definitely recommend this place. In fact I recommend this place no matter what. They make burgers better than most Americans can and better than any resturaunt in America. Yes that is right, this place has some amazing tasting burgers that blow away what I know about burgers. The staff was pretty friendly but also minded their business for the most part. They spoke decent English and were able to easily get the food and drink I ordered very quickly. If you are of the drinking age I highly recommend the Ginger Whisky Highball and the burger I ordered was the Aged Beef double patty with cheese, lettuce, and tomato. The folks that say this place has great food but complain is overpriced are CHEAP. When you compare the quality of food to what you receive back in your home country or city it’s comparable. If I compare based on where I’m from, less than $20 gets me a cut of steak, hamburg and sides plus attentive service, this place is receiving a great review.
