I absolutely loved staying here.
The room itself was luxurious, very spacious and extremely clean. The bed is enormous and perfectly comfortable with a soft blanket and two pillows per person. The room also contains a tiny bar area with a water kettle, coffee machine, a fridge and different glasses and mugs. There are two TVs, one opposite the bed the other one at the sitting area. The bathroom was at another level, the shower was basically a room on its own. All in all I have to say that this hotel room was far beyond my expectations.
Everyone working there is super friendly, helpful and ready to walk the extra mile for their guests. They gave us great restaurant recommendations, exactly fitted to what we were looking for, and also helped us to get something back which we forgot at a previous hotel in another city.
We also ate breakfast every day at the hotel. The breakfast will be delivered to your room at a time you can choose yourself. The options are either traditional japanese or western style. We decided to go for the japanese one every day, it was always a bit different and very delicious. You can choose time and style on a daily basis, so its very flexible.
I highly recommend staying at nagi kyoto shijo and am looking forward to...
ย ย ย Read moreStaff is incredibly rude to foreigners and very passive aggressive. Unhelpful and accused us of stealing a room key demanding that we pay an extra fee when the key was in the room the entire time. didnโt even receive an apology from the staff member (older lady that wears glasses) but received more attitude instead when the key was found. This is also not a 5 star hotel. the amenities and service are 4 stars at best (if weโre being generous). The room was not very clean, a bit dusty, and they only cleaned very early in the morning and will keep nagging and calling the room if weโre in it past 12 pm, and tell us that if we donโt leave at that time they wonโt clean it. 5 star hotels donโt do that! we also got no help carrying our 6 bags to the room. The closet had 0 shelves, and the room majorly lacked storage space. No drawers in the nightstands either. The location is also bad, minimum 20 mins walk to anything. Wont be going back. And i hope the staff receive training on how to deal with customers, theyโre very unprofessional and just plain bullies. She treated us horribly...
ย ย ย Read moreWhat to say, after Tokyo, I din't know what to expect from a hotel. This one exceeded all my expectations by a long way. From the moment you arrive, the staff are great, welcoming and friendly and so helpful. The hotel is a mix or modern and traditional done very well indeed. My room was fabulous, the smell alone, predominantly of cedar and pine woods, that the room is very tastefully done in, reminding you of Japanese tradition, whilst offering every modern convenience. The room was spacious, the bed was soooo comfy. The bathroom is worth the price of the room alone, one of the best rain-showers I've had the pleasure of using. The toiletries smelled wonderful, I would love to know what was in them, all the great smells of nature rolled into one small bottle, especially the shower gel. I can't sing this hotel's praises enough. Amazing. In other parts of the world this would be called a boutique hotel. It's small and personal with...
