Cons Night 1:
I looked forward to staying here based off of the reviews online; however, after today I’m looking forward to my check out date.
Tonight is night one at this hotel. After a long day of travel, and receiving a delicious meal at a local restaurant in Kyoto, I was prepared to take a shower and to get a good nights rest.
Unfortunately, as I prepared myself for said shower, I noted a piece of hair on the floor, outside the tub. I then saw a piece of hair inside of the tub. This led me to inspect the rest of the room and I found a small hair on one of the beds.
I took pictures and went downstairs to show the hotel representative. He checked their computer, apologized and stated there were no available rooms. From my standpoint, the representative had no other words to say so he likely thought that was the end of addressing the problem.
I asked if they could provide a discount along with something for me to use to clean. There’s a possibility of language barrier as he asked was it to “pick up the hair.” I gestured a wiping motion and stated , “No, to clean the tub.”
I’m disappointed in the hotel for not having a procedure to provide their staff for a resolution if they are unable to move a customer to another room.
I’m dissatisfied that while I am on vacation (emphasis on vacation because part of being a guest at a hotel is trusting in the establishment you chose to make you feel comfortable through service and cleanliness), I had to find a resolution to the problem on behalf of the hotel so that I could feel safe for the rest of the days I have left here for my stay.
I understand everyone has their own definition of what is clean to them, so I am only speaking from my point of view and for me find hair in the bathtub causes me to further cleanliness of the room going forward. First impressions are important.
Note:
I decided I’d allow daily cleaning to see if things would change. Night 2:
Found hair in bath towel.
I didn’t report it as I felt like my concerns wouldn’t be addressed due to my experience on Night 1. They did take trash out of all locations (you’ll see why I mention this when reading Night 3) I decided I just wouldn’t use the bath towel to dry off and used another. No hair inside the bathtub on bedding.
Night 3:
I came back to my room to find the trash bag was changed in the room the the trash from the prior day was left sitting on top of the refrigerator. Additionally, the sanitary can in the bathroom trash was not changed and just left in there.
I called the front desk when I noticed the bedroom trash inside and asked if it was okay if I put it outside my door. (I was unsure if there is some rule about trash being outside of the door, all places have their own rules.) I didn’t see the sanitary trash until after so I didn’t call about it and assumed it would be left up to me to deal with.
Night 4:
I found hair in the tub. This I didn’t take a photo of and just delt...
Read moreAlthough the location is 2.5 kilometers away from the city, the service attitude of the service staff is very good. It doesn't matter if they don't speak English or Japanese. They have a translator at the counter to help with translation. In principle, there is no problem with communication. The only pity is that my friend lives there The hotel can help you reserve a taxi the day before, but this hotel requires you to go to the counter when you are about to leave and they can help you call it. This part involves the risk of not being able to call Uber in the morning or waiting for a long time.Other hotels also have coin-operated washing machines (300 yen each time, no need to add laundry detergent!!! It’s convenient, so you can wash them without laundry detergent) and dryers (100 yen for 30 minutes), but there are only 2 of them. If you are busy at night Occupied, I guess I can give up doing laundry that day. (I encountered a visitor who seemed to be an outsider standing guard in the washing machine room with an oversized duffel bag. After washing, he threw away the dryer, and then left a batch of clothes in for washing. So I originally calculated the time to go down and check it out, but the time was reset again. , I ran several times and finally had to give up at 11 o'clock.Another thing worth recommending is that there is a large supermarket (life supermarket) near the hotel, which is open until 0:00. You can go and restock any snacks you want to buy at any time. For breakfast, my relatives and friends were not used to it. After eating it for one day, they went to the supermarket with us to buy it in the next few days. But I didn’t take pictures so I won’t...
Read moreAt a first glance, you might feel the room is a tad bit small and limited. However, the cleaning service and the attention to detail make up for the stay. This hotel is just a 5 min walk from the Pokemon store and a 10 min walk from downtown. So anyone staying here, please just take a walk or public transport towards downtown.
Hotel staff interaction - They are very helpful and polite. I reached the hotel at 11 pm on a Sunday, and the check-in took only a couple of minutes. The cleaning staff does an excellent job. The breakfast service staff are so polite and helpful even when I was communicating in English. Room - The room looks and feels a bit small at first. But it grows on you eventually. Everything is extremely clean. This is particularly important for the bathroom. The toilets and bathtub are just spotless. The toilet has an antifog mirror and I was surprised to find this the first after staying at multiple 5-star hotels. I would recommend anyone staying to get the highest floor. Amenities - Most of the amenities are offered at the check-in desk. The rest can either be requested or found in the room. If you do get some food back to the hotel there is a microwave oven and some cutlery near the breakfast place. Breakfast - For anyone booking, I would recommend the breakfast option. It has a lot of options and is available from 6:30 am. Just fill up and head out for the day. Really helps if you are in Kyoto for...
