Wonderful place that felt far more luxurious than its 2 stars indicate. Our spacious rooms had 4 generous beds and enough space in between to picnic, dry clothes, play games, fold clothes and more. The kitchenette has mugs, small plates and glasses, forks, spoons, bottle opening devices and scissors. Microwave and fridge made it extra convenient. We used the washing machine every night since the heat really made us sweat. Drying rack, clothes hangers and clips all made these features actually easy to use. The little tub in the bathroom made for a one person private onsen. Bathroom had plentiful shelves to store things. The only things we missed are hooks to hang towels or toilet kits.
We couldn't check in early but the hotel kindly stored our luggage for us and when we came back they had already moved it to our rooms. There was no daily cleaning and we liked that no one entered our room.
It was super close walk to the Higashiyanma station & smooth roads to pull luggage along. An easy walk to Sanjo station as well. Close to the beautiful canal area where locals hang out at night, either enjoying the moonlight while sitting on the bridge or splashing in the water. Also an easy walk to the nearby covered walking street with many shops &...

Three people in the “studio apartment” option.
The beds are more then big enough to fit two people each if you have four people.
Room was very spacious.
There is washer in the room, as is common in Japan no dryer was in there; but the sauna/bathroom easily dried all our clothes no problem.
There is a full kitchen and it is easy to use.
The best feature of this room was the bathroom, the sauna Japanese style bathroom was amazing. After walking around all day it was a godsend. AND there’s a TV in the tub. Glorious.
Hotel has elevators that are a decent size so disability access. However the room has a small step to get inside and there is absolutely no shoes allowed in the room past that point.
This is close to the train in Kyoto, we took a bullet train from Tokyo and were able to walk from the train to the hotel in less then 5 min. Main bus lines run here to. Location was excellent.
There is also a lot of stores and grocery in the area.
Would absolutely stay here again and...
Read moreRequested a quiet room on a high floor; received a dark depressing room on the ground floor with no windows- just a sliding door facing a concrete wall and noisy air handling unit with a narrow space and access door. A security concern for a solo traveler - the sliding door could not be left open for ventilation. I requested a change when I found out the room was on the ground floor but since the hotel was fully booked and I had paid in advance, I had no recourse. Woken up at 530am by the upstairs neighbor’s footsteps and slamming cupboard doors. |Aside from the depressing noisy room - the hotel is nicely located and the room/facilities are clean. The lighting is either dim floor lamps or bright overhead spotlights requested and received 2 fluorescent desk lamps. Washer/dryer and small minimally equipped kitchenette. No desk. 32 inch tv. Oddly placed 2 seat sofa. Inconveniently placed outlets to charge...
