Amazing place to end our time in Kyoto. Food was great; very reasonably priced. Chef and staff were very nice and friendly. Sat next to a local that helped us navigate the menu and shared dishes we would have never tried. They shared a Japanese to English food book that was helpful and was a great way for the Chef to ensure we knew what everything was. Seems like a great example of a Izakaya restaurant. Amazing. The best experience we had in Japan and one of the most delicious meals. The chef/owner(?) was extremely friendly, communicating with us through a food encyclopedia and a travel phrasebook. Excellent Izakaya with great food and friendly stuff. We had a bit of a language barrier but the staff was nice and helpful nonetheless (they also gave me a point-and-speak illustrated book about Japanese food that was quite funny). I sat at the counter and the food was excellent. Don't expect big portions.
