From the moment we stepped in to check in, we could tell from the start that this is a truly special hotel. All the staff were very attentive and extremely friendly. We received traditional candies and tea during check-in, along with warm welcome conversations and lunch and dinner suggestions. They provided us with walking and biking routes for scenic sightseeing around the hotel, and they did deliver! The routes were indeed fantastic.
They took us on a tour of the hotel, explaining the room features and hotel facilities. The highlight is the rooftop and the open-air bath, which guests can book privately—they have two open-air baths. Don't worry, they only have eight rooms, truly a boutique experience. Read moreHad a most wonderful stay at this lovely ryokan this autumn. Located in Higashiyama area wherein the famous landmark Heian Jingu is a few blocks away on foot ! Higashiyama subway station, practically located across the road from the ryokan, connects you to the most popular places to visit in Kyoto. The staff were super kind, so welcoming, flexible to our requests and very knowledgeable. We have enjoyed their perfect non-touristy recommendations for places to enjoy Kyoto autumn leaves and the cafes/restaurants for authentic Kyoto food offerings. A shoutout to hotel managers Mr. Ihara and Ms. Yamaguchi for their kind assistance. Arigato gozaimashita.|The room we stayed at was quite huge, we even had a tatami room and our own hinoki wood bathtub ! Loved the luxurious interior details, a good combination of traditional and contemporary, perfectly designed for long stays too as they have a kitchenette complete with IH stove and dining wares. Room was immaculately clean and comfortable with great amenities. Wish we could stay longer. Would love to go back in...
