This was our first hotel stay in Japan and we enjoyed it very much. It was conveniently located in Shinjuku close to stations and a very short walk to Kabukicho. We liked that the area felt busy but not overly so. Shinjuku ended up being our favorite area we visited in Japan and I can't wait to come back.
Check in and check out were very easy thanks to the kind and helpful staff. We wanted to go out most nights so didn't have a chance to enjoy the rooftop terrace, but did go up to see it one night just to check it out and it was lovely. We regretted not using it more.
Our room was clean upon checkin. There was one small stain on the comforter (I think makeup of some kind) but otherwise it was spotless. My partner also doesn't use comforters really, just the light cover sheet, so we didn't mind at all. All the facilities otherwise too, like the lobby and elevators, were very clean.
We had a washer/dryer in our room and it made such a difference. Every hotel we stayed at after this one just had a shared coin laundry on a separate floor that was always being used. But here we were able to do our laundry as often as we liked, and it was very easy to use.
This was also the only hotel room we had in Japan that we felt was actually quiet. We weren't disturbed even a single time by any outside noises or noises through the walls, so it was easy to get a good night's sleep and adjust our sleep schedules to the...
Read moreThis just feels like a budget hotel in everyway and although it is cheaper than some for the area but you can definitely get a better experience and better value elsewhere. We stayed at their sister hotel on our last visit which was fantastic but this location suited us better so we decided to try it this trip. The location is great, easy access to trains and a short walk to amazing restaurants and all the sites in shinjuku. There was also a washing machine with built in dryer in the room which was really handy. Though that's the only positives I had. The staff were OK it wasn't the most friendly of welcomes and then when I did need some assistance the desk was unattended. Upon check in we arrived at our hotel floor to find two massive stains on the carpet alongside other guests rubbish piled up through the corridor to our room. This was a daily occurrence as it appeared the cleaner had to sort through from recycling and general waste. That is not a great first impression and if that's required why not just put a recycling bin in the room? The bed was not very comfortable and similar to other reviews on here we had issues with the pillow but just purchased some additional pillows from Muji for our stay. Rooms were also not cleaned during the stay only new towels and rubbish removal upon request so ultimately even for a budget hotel I don't think it...
Read moreOur impression of Tokyo hotels was that they would be extremely small (past 2 trips were really small rooms), but the residential room in this hotel was big! We were deciding between Hyatt Regency in Yokohama and this one, but we ultimately chose this one despite paying more for the centralised location and the fact that there was a washing machine in the room too (free laundry!). This is literally only 3 mins walk away from Shinjuku-Higashi station which is linked to the Oedo and Fukutoshin line so it is fairly convenient to get to most major places in Tokyo. It is also situated in Shinjuku, but not in the heart of the district so it's not noisy and crowded with tourists at all. The hotel doesn't have a gym, but if you have an Anytime Fitness membership, they have one decent outlet just opposite the road. There are 2 convenient stores (Lawson and Family Mart) very near the hotel too, and a MacDonalds too. We got the highest possible floor (the highest one being the terrace room) for our room type and we had a nice window view overlooking the street down below. The bed was comfortable, but the toilet was a bit small (the usual for Japanese hotels). Highly recommended if you are looking to stay near to major Tokyo locations but also value your...
