I hardly ever post negative reviews but I had a really horrible experience here. I was going to buy a hot herb tea for my elderly father and for myself, something that does not contain milk or sugar/sweetener by default but they can only use non cow’s milk (soy milk only) with very few drinks so I could not order what I originally wanted to drink. But the worst part was when I was trying to view what’s available on the menu (I have cataract and can’t see anything unless I get really up-close) the person in front of me as well as the cashier assumed that I was trying to jump the line when I was just trying to read the menu and told me “she was here first” pointing to the person in front of me. I explained very uncomfortably that I have bad vision and need to see the menu up-close and finally able to get the menu which did not explain milk or sweetener options so I had to check one by one. BTW I speak both Japanese and English at native-level so there’s no language issues involved in this situation. [1] Please make the full menu available somewhere near the entrance so that people with vision problems can look at the menu without disturbing the people who are trying to order in line [2] Please make alternative milks (soy, almond, oats, etc) available for wider range of drinks and NOT to put refined sugar or HFCS (a.k.a. “gum syrup”) by default into drinks. Japan is decades behind many other countries when it comes to awareness towards lactose-intolerance and negative health effects of HFCS and refined sugar so I’m not optimistic situation will improve...
Read moreWe stopped here for a light breakfast before our Shinkansen ride from Tokyo Station. It's 10 mins away located in the Marriot hotel, but accessible from the street. This place was not busy at 10am and plenty of seating. Staff was very friendly and helpful. My latte was really good! We also tried some croissants, cherry Blossom biscuits, and other treats they were all tasty.
I recommend this place if you can't get a reservation at a sit-down restaurant. They are...
Read moreShort coffee stop at a bakery with sadly little to offer late afternoon visitors. It’s a smart cafe; an oasis at the base of office blocks so we’re not the ideal clients. A strong coffee bean characterises the atmosphere and you can get a ‘shot’ over ice cream. There’s a wide vista outside thru the tall windows surrounding the echo chamber interior. Decor is pleasant and warm. There are alternatives and not many with as...
