This place is absolutely amazing. I’d like to say it’s a hidden gem, but the rating and number of reviews speak for themselves. There’s a lot of great food in Tokyo, I visited my fair share of Michelin star restaurants while here however they all were missing the personal touch that makes a good restaraunt great (or at least memorable). This is the kind of place Anthony Bourdain would have loved- small, quaint, comfortable, ‘off the beaten path,’ and most importantly, full of great tasting food options. What makes this place special is that it’s not just another restaraunt serving traditional Japanese dishes, it’s a western influenced gastropub that still incorporates a Japanese fusion into the menu. In other words, it’s a refreshing and comforting break from the race of trying to taste all the endless and overwhelming ‘traditional’ options Tokyo has to offer. Besides the amazing coal fired pizza, they have fantastic specialty dishes all prepared by the head chef from start to finish. I came here twice in 4 days and the first time I didn’t get the chance to sit at the bar but this evening I got lucky- what an awesome experience! This kitchen and crew run like a well oiled machine and it was a treat getting to watch them work together tonight. In my opinion, having gone to the michelin star restaurants and watching all the meals get prepared in similar fashion, this is what a lot of people come to Japan for- this kind of intimidate and comforting food experience. Behind the bar there are several tables for larger groups and everyone was in a great mood (both times I went), between the laughing/conversations and warmth from the coal fire oven blazing, you can’t ask for a better atmosphere to enjoy your meal- and this is coming from someone who doesn’t speak a word of Japanese. I wouldn’t be surprised if this place becomes one of those food spots you have to queue up for early in the morning to get a spot- it really is flying under the radar. The chef is also a total badass and clearly has some top notch experience just from watching him prepare various dishes and work with the crew to get everything done in such a small space and keep service moving. Highly recommend the Marrecio pizza and the tiramisu. Can’t wait to come back and visit this place- the experience stood out more than any other restaraunt I visited in Tokyo and that is not an exaggeration. Great people and great food- good...

Friends and I had been in Shimbashi the previous week when we wanted to try this pizzeria. Unfortunately the night we chose they were full and the next night closed so we missed out.
Thankfully, I returned to Shimbashi this week from Kyoto and was pleasantly surprised to see that although they were indeed full inside, if I was willing to brave the cold I could try their tasty pizza!
I said “give me a hell yeah!” and plopped myself down on the outside bench; ready for a craft brew and a nice pie!
The staff were very accommodating bringing me an English menu, and ensuring that I was being served and taken care of throughout. They started with some amuse bouche. I think it may have been a little play on garlic bread. Something to wake up the tastebuds and appetise me for what was to come.
I chose what appeared to me the most topping laden pizza - the Popolo - which is topped with mushrooms, olive. salami, cherry tomato, black pepper and granapadano on a tomato sauce base.
If you don’t know what granapadano is, don’t worry neither did I and I was super worried it was gonna be some uglier, smellier, and horribly tasting sister to the anchovy! No wuzzas it’s just a cheese similar to parmagiano reggiano.
This pizza was fantastic. Wood-fired, crispy and crunchy and very very light. The toppings were well-conceived and worked together in harmony. Really a great pizza but I needed more!
The one other item that really interested me was the calzone. Ever since the Seinfeld episode where George is buying them on the daily to win over his boss I have been interested in this variation but never tried. So I thought… why not?
I pulled the trigger and this thing may have been even better than the pizza. Again light, fluffy, flaky, crispy and crunchy crust with the toppings steaming away inside - salami, ricotta, mozarella, basil on a tomato sauce base.
To wash it down I had 2 of their Okei craft beers, called Wee Heavy, which is a scotch ale (the style is also called wee heavy).
All in all just a really great experience and one I will remember for being the first soldier to brave the cold; ultimately being joined by 5 other brave souls as I devoured my pizza. Would...

Tucked away in Tokyo is a gem of a pizzeria that I stumbled upon, and I couldn't be happier! From the moment I stepped in, the delightful aroma of freshly baked pizza greeted me. The pizzas were an absolute delight, bursting with flavor and perfectly baked crust - a true Italian masterpiece.
What's more impressive than the fantastic food is the warm and inviting atmosphere created by the incredibly friendly and kind staff. Their hospitality made the dining experience feel incredible.
And let's talk about their salads – crisp, fresh, and a perfect complement to the delicious pizzas. And the dessert ? Oh, it was the sweetest ending to a fantastic meal ! The attention to detail in every dish was evident and greatly appreciated.
For anyone seeking great food served with genuine warmth and kindness, this pizzeria is an absolute must-visit. I can't wait to return for another round of mouthwatering pizza and the heartwarming hospitality!
