Tokyo Udon Samurai Review: A Slurp-Worthy Experience
An Unforgettable Bowl of Udon in the Heart of Tokyo! If you're seeking the perfect udon experience in Tokyo, look no further than Tokyo Udon Samurai. This gem of a restaurant elevates the simple bowl of noodles to a true art form. It's the kind of place that captures the essence of Japanese culinary craftsmanship—unpretentious, focused, and utterly delicious. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance is a perfect blend of cozy and vibrant. The air hums with the soft chatter of happy diners and the gentle sounds of noodles being expertly prepared. The staff are incredibly friendly and efficient, guiding you through the menu with a welcoming smile. This place has a wonderful, lively energy that makes you feel right at home. The menu is streamlined and confident, offering a few select dishes that highlight the quality of the ingredients. The focus is squarely on the udon, and for good reason—the noodles are exceptional. Thick, chewy, and perfectly al dente, they are truly the star of the show. Paired with a deeply savory and clear broth, every spoonful is a revelation. The tempura is a must-try; it's light, crispy, and fried to perfection, adding a delightful crunch to the silky noodles. The value here is outstanding. You get an incredibly generous and filling meal without the high price tag often associated with Tokyo's top restaurants. The quality of the food far surpasses what you would expect for the price, making it an essential stop for any foodie exploring the city on a budget. Tokyo Udon Samurai isn't just a place to eat udon; it's an experience that celebrates the craft and tradition behind this beloved Japanese staple. It's a perfect spot for both seasoned foodies and newcomers to Japanese cuisine. ###Tokyo Udon Samurai review, best udon in Tokyo, Tokyo udon restaurant, Tokyo budget eats, authentic Japanese food, Tokyo...
Read moreThis is a beautiful udon shop on level 5. We came here at 11:00 for lunch right after they opened.
The food was prepared in front of customers along the elegant black and wood themed kitchen. While the staff spoke limited English, they gave us English menus and were very patient and polite.
We ordered the maguro udon set, wakame seaweed udon with a side of burdock tempura, soft boiled egg tempura, shrimp tempura and anago (saltwater eel) tempura.
The tempura batter was crispy but not heavy. I love the mild earthiness of burdock root and it's one of my favourite Japanese ingredients. The egg had a perfect oozy centre and the seafood was fresh and flavourful. The udon noodles were chewy and the dashi had a very deep flavour.
The food was outstanding and I even finished the bowl of dashi. The service was excellent and it was a warm and energising start to a cold and rainy day in...
Read moreThe restaurant has beautiful decor and wooden dining counter top. I had the pleasure of having the place to myself when I went later at night for dinner after 9PM, which was nice after a long day of walking around the busy, tourist areas of Tokyo. The staff were friendly and patient while I debated on what I wanted to order. They do have an English menu as well. I ordered a seasonal vegetable tempura set with udon after (I can't recall the name but no broth and it had an egg that you mixed in with the udon noodles well). Everything from the set dinner meal was delicious and was the right portion size for me because I wasn't looking for a heavy dinner at the time. I hope more people go out of their way to come to...
