I’ve been traveling to Japan many times and this is the worst service I’ve ever experienced here.
Arrived at 11AM, the waiter told us directly to seat at the terrace even if there’s plenty seats inside. I was holding a coffee and the waiter rudely showed me a google translation that saids “get rid of it yourself” (I understand restaurants rejecting outside food. But it’s the first time staff won’t let me seat until I “get rid of it myself”, normally people politely let you seat and “get rid of it” for you.”
And to the waiter: you can say “drink first” to help customer not misunderstand it as “drink only” before you grab the food menu with eye browns, also “check” means お会計 and “let me double check” means you are conforming the order with the customer.
