Tonight, I had the pleasure of being served dinner from Chef Tomonori and his staff. I booked this course online as I noted through research that there is no walk-in at this location. I found this location and in combination with reviewing information on Tabelog, I chose to book this location for an early dinner with the ability to book a spot for a solo diner the night before this dinner happened. When I booked my spot, I was asked if I were to choose a counter or table spot and I elected for the counter as I wanted a more intimate experience - and the experience described by prior diners. I would wholeheartedly absolutely recommend that you choose the counter over a table. In order to reserve your spot, you pay ahead of time. There is a private room as well - and the staff do explain to you what dishes you are eating.
This is a true and traditional omakase experience. I was the only patron since I chose to eat early and I was greeted by Chef and his staff. There is an assortment of drinks alcohol or non-alcoholic which can be paid for.
The lineup of dishes was impressive (but does vary according to what is available) but there are certainly specific items described in the menu prior to booking that were present. Each dish was delicious and amazing. Chef and his staff spent time explaining the dish, as well as opening up a small book that included all the dishes of the night, with photos, and a small English description of what I was eating.
Overall, I had a great experience at Tsukiji Sushi Omakase. I had an extremely wonderful experience dining with Chef Tomonori and his staff, and would wholeheartedly recommend coming here.
You can tell that Chef and his staff are caring and love what they do. They were so caring and Chef Tomonori was extremely friendly - taking the time to connect with me, ask about where I was from, speak about sushi, as well as his own history as a chef. Today’s dinner journey is one for the memory books. I cannot wait to return again with friends and family in the...
Read moreFirst time I had an Omakase-style dining experience, and I honestly couldn’t recommend this place more. I sat at the counter, which made the whole night feel really special - the chefs were preparing the dishes right in front of me, and I was able to chat with them while they worked, which really added to the experience. The chef was very skilled and clearly passionate about her work. She took the time to explain each of the ~20 servings and gave tips on how to eat each one. The pacing was perfect - I never had to wait too long between dishes, and the whole meal lasted just under two hours.
The food was absolutely incredible. Every bite of fish was super fresh and just melted in my mouth. The variety was great: from soup-like dishes eaten with a spoon to fresh bites I picked up with my hands right off the counter. The sea urchin bite was just unreal! I loved the grilled eel and a really unexpected combo of monkfish liver with watermelon. Oh, and the chef torched mackerel right in front of me and smoked it under a glass dome - that was incredibly good too. At the end of the meal, they served homemade green tea, which was a really nice touch. The vibe overall was relaxed and friendly - people were chatting with the chefs throughout, which made it feel warm and welcoming.
It was a fantastic evening. The food, the atmosphere, the people - everything was great. I’ll definitely...
Read moreThis was our first day in Japan. Wanted to take my father and mother in law here because it was my father in laws birthday. We were very excited but ended disappointed by the treatment and service we got from the staff.
First, one of the main reason booking here was that the website stated that they had english speaking staff members, as much as we wanted to enjoy the food we wanted to understand better by being explained what the dishes were but every time they bring out dishes staff would open up their phones and show photos of fishes or pointed to the booklet and told us to read it. which most of time it was few minute of awkwardness of silence while the staff searched the internet.
Second, my mother is law is allergic to Mackerel. I specifically told them when i booked our reservation to have a different dishes whenever mackerel were served for rest of us. We also told them when we sat down. There were total of 3 mackerel dishes and first 2 were served with mackerel to my mother in law after telling them multiple times they finally swapped to a different seafood.
Overall the staff were rude and didnt care much of the service towards us and left us dissatisfied.
Food itself was ok, there were few tasty dishes but nothing that exceeded our...
