Gate Apartments — Hotel in Riga

This is a great apartment in the heart of old town Riga. Close to all the tourist sites. Grocery store is a little bit of a walk, but this was not a problem for us at all. The apartment is huge at 88 square meters/950 square feet and has two very large bedrooms, large kitchen and a living room. The kitchen was very well equipped with large pots and pans, an assortment of sharp knives, which is rare for apartments it seems, larges glasses and cups, etc., even scissors and other utensils! There was also a washer and a rack to hang your clothes. ||||Everything was very, very, clean and well keep. There were extra towels, and pretty much everything we needed for our entire stay. ||||Katrina was very helpful – picked us up and dropped us off at the airport for about the same price as a taxi – 15 euro, but this was door to door and much easier. I recommend having her take you each way. Katrina also was very helpful, showed us everything in the apartment, and spent a bunch of time reviewing the town map, the top sites and where the grocery store was. Booked for 7 days, Location is great, plenty of space, big rooms with nice kitchen and bathroom. Very clean and comfortable. It also was pretty cheap nothing really to complain about. The only 2 issues we have had was little space to park and it's parking was overcrowded, but parking wasn't that much of an issue as you can park on the street. And the 2nd but that is just me picking at things, on arrival around 2am after nice comfortable shower there I wanted to lay down in bed, to find that it collapsed on me (I'm 70kg) the second I've laid down comfortably. That was sorted out pretty much within 1 hour by our great host who has done more than anyone would expect to ensure that we are safe and comfortable in the apartment, very pleasant and helpful to say the least. One more thing is that we had our apartment on the ground floor, and it was very difficult to sleep at night due to all the loud drunks standing beneath our windows (every night) but I can recommend it to anyone who needs a place to...

Positives : Great Location. Very efficient and helpful hostess Katrina.||||Negatives :Very disappointing. Expected much more after reading reviews. Our Apartment No 7 was on the 4th Floor with no elevator. Lugging all the luggage to the apartment and getting it back was a huge challenge. Also, each time we went out, climbing back was rather inconvenient and almost a nightmare specially for not-so-young couples like us. The room itself was most disappointing. Rather cramped, small and dingy. No view atall. Hardly a living room with just one chair. Bathroom very cramped. No toiletries. Beds also rather small and cramped. Nothing like the pictures and description we saw while booking the apartment. Certainly not worth...
