The food overall is very tasty, the main reason I have come several times, but the last time was definitely the last one. Unfortunately, the girls in the service always disappoint in one way or another. A few days ago I visited the place for the last time with two other people. One of the foods came in wrong and the only alternative was either to wait over an hour for what we want or settle for what we didn’t want at all. No other alternatives or forward coming, no offering somewhat compensation, which would at least show a sense of apology for the mistake made. It was either two people wait their foods to get cold while we wait for the correct order to come, which would, apparently be completely fine, or we settle for the food we don’t want. The responsible waitress that made the mistake also decided to be unable to deal with their own mistake and we needed to go over the problem with someone else. Also, not the first time seeing quite a few empty tables with no reservation just because the waiting time for the food is over an hour, and people are supposed to look for someplace better. Is it the kitchen that’s not capable of handling and managing the dishes or is it the service?
It’s definitely worth to try out at least once! The place has a potential
The atmosphere is very nice - traditional Korean decorations and K-pop music in the background. The food is overall great - quite a lot of dishes and most are very interesting. Some may be over seasoned or contain, for instance, too much sauce, but, personally, that hasn’t happened a lot of times even worth mentioning. But the service left me down in one way or another every time I visited the place. I’m actually very sad not to return to this place again, but I’m already a bit tired of leaving the...
Read moreI have a lot to say about this place. I will start with the pros; the interior is cozy and in a traditional Korean style, feels homey. The tuna kimbab (참치김밥) was delicious though without sesame oil on the laver (김). Bibimbab came sizzling in a stone pot (돌솥) and was good. K-pop was playing in the restaurant. Haemuljeon had a lot of seafood in it.
Cons: I had read the reviews before coming here and I was scared away, but I wanted to give it a chance because I really missed my home in Korea and wanted to have some food that reminded me of home. Many complained that the wait was long and it really was. We arrived a little bit after 12 when they had just opened and it was calm in the restaurant. We received menus and waited for someone to take our orders, we waited maybe 10-15 minutes and decided to go to the front but they asked us to sit at our table and wait which took a while too. We asked the waitress how long it would take and she said about half an hour. We were patient and waited the half hour while new guests sat down, ordered and received their meals before us. Some people even finished the meal and left the restaurant before we even got our water. 45 minutes later the food arrived. Kimchi was sour, rice was dry. One of our meals only arrived 1 hour after we ordered which meant one of us had to wait while the rest of us ate because the food would get cold. When we wanted to pay we also had to wait since no waitress comes to check up on the guests. Again, we went to the front and were asked to wait at the table meanwhile other guests could freely pay and leave.
It is sad to see one of the, if not only, Korean restaurants in Riga being a bit of a disappointment. Unfair treatment and slow service. Hope...
Read moreWow. Terrible service here today. Sat down and not served for a long time. Other guests have come and gone and I had to wave like a lunatic to finally get their attention. There were 4 waiters who were clearly not doing much. Also all I ordered was noodles and requested an egg on the side. This is a fairly reasonable request from my point of view and am willing to pay up to €2 for a fried egg that I know cost much less than that. But instead, I had to go back and forth with a waiter because the manager was being uncompromising. Bless her, she's new today so it's not her fault. They wanted to charge me an entirely different portion than what I requested which costs double just to have an egg. Manager then came up to me with a defensive and patronising tone. It is JUST an egg. I could've easily dropped this but their attitude was just too ridiculous that I insisted that this request be met. This is a restaurant. Clients have requests all the time. Again, this is just an EGG.
UPDATE. Sunny side up is ... Not sunny. Now I highly doubt their cooking abilities. Hope they don't just heat things up which is highly likely at this point. Beef too dry and noodles too salty.
I'm sorry for this extremely negative review. I say it how it is. I write amazing reviews for places that deserves credit where it's due. I've been here before and it was OK. Today was just ridiculous. You're not even fully booked and...
