Green Mountain Lodging House — Hotel in Borneo

We have stayed in much nicer rooms with cheaper price. The room was dirty. The sheets wouldn’t stay on through the night. My sheet blanket was cut out piece from some kind of curtain fabric and bedspread. My bedspread had cigarette burn marks. Pillow was lumpy. The shower drain did not drain so the water accumulated on the floor. Sometimes the room was filled with sewer smell. Pieces came off the towel while drying. We asked for a kettle and received one but it was dirty too, covered with orange spots inside. The room and bathroom desperately need floor to ceiling renovation. Also new sets of beddings and towels. Good things about this room was location near the waterfront, free soap, free toiletpaper and lots of hangers and hooks to put your clothes. There’s also minimarket and 7-eleven nearby and great restaurants. There was one worker guy at the reception with a great smile and willingness to help. One of the cheapest hotel in the town.

There is a pub near the hotel. Every night except for Sunday, starting from 10:30pm to 2am, the pub will play loud music and it is very hard to sleep. First day staying there I woke up 1am to a loud laughing sound outside the pub.

The hotel is very old. But I am grateful the air-conditioning is working well and the hot shower is rejuvenating.

You get what you paid for. It is regretful that the city council allow a pub to operate nearby. It would be a perfect place for budget stay if the pub is not there.
