During my solo wanderings in Kota Kinabalu, I stumbled upon 1Healthy Reflexology, a massage parlour that caught my attention. As I had some free time while waiting for my wife to finish her work, I decided to indulge in a relaxing massage session.
The parlour's location at the city centre, next to a main road, made it easy to find. There are two other branches nearby at Jalan Labuk, each offering the same massage packages at consistent prices. The staff at the counter was incredibly helpful, taking the time to explain each package in detail.
Although they no longer provided body scrub due to the lack of a shower facility, I was more than content with my choice of a 1-hour full body massage with ginger aromatherapy, delivered by a skilled male therapist in his 30s. The experience was exceptional; he seemed to know exactly which areas needed extra attention, and I was impressed by his strong yet gentle touch.
Opting for ginger aromatherapy was a fantastic decision, as I was hoping to relieve gas discomfort. During the massage, I did burp a few times, to my slight embarrassment. However, my therapist reassured me that it was normal and that he was relieved he could address the issue effectively.
So pleased with the remarkable skills of my therapist, I extended my massage session by an additional half an hour, totaling 1.5 hours. The relief I felt after the massage was beyond compare, especially with the wonderful head massage that accompanied it.
While the massage place was slightly small and the curtains separating the beds were thin, making me slightly uncomfortable about privacy, the excellent service, and the availability of many male therapists make it an excellent choice, especially for those who prefer male therapists for religious reasons.
Furthermore, I appreciated the variety of payment options available, including credit cards and e-wallets, as it made the transaction smooth and convenient.
If I ever have the opportunity to spend more time in Kota Kinabalu in the future, I will undoubtedly make it a point to visit 1Healthy Reflexology once again. I highly recommend this massage parlour for anyone seeking a truly exceptional and...
Read moreSaw a couple of cockroaches on the chairs and was already hesitant to have my massage there. It was my aunt who offered to pay and all so reluctantly followed the motions. Once sat, I was attended by a young woman. She could only communicate in Indonesian (she barely understood Sabahan Malay), rough Mandarin and Hakka. This YW tried to communicate with mandarin or Hakka to which I said I can understand a little. I told her I preferred speaking Malay. After that to which she muttered in Hakka "isn't it shameful a local Chinese man to be unable to speak the local dialects?". I didn't know that I came to a massage parlour to be judged. When it came to the massage, it was excruciating. She kept repeating the same movements to the point of discomfort. I asked her if she could move on and she gave me a patronising look and murmured under her breath. I'm not sure if I came at the wrong time but it was unprofessional. Severely disappointed...
Read moreSatisfactory massage marred by opaque pricing. I requested for a 60 min foot reflexology which included "free" shoulder massage for 10 mins. After I have settled on the sofa, masseuse suggested that the 60mins be broken down to 30mins foot reflexology and 30 mins of shoulder massage. Only at payment stage was I informed that the change meant a more than 50% increase in the charge. To add insult to injury, there was an additional charge of M$10 for aroma oil which was also not advised to me. Aroma oil for foot reflexology? - first time that I come...
