Check in: very slow, took 30-45 minutes to clarify the booking as they would like to charge us more during the long weekend. Actually, the booking is already confirmed with the invoice where they can prove and should be honor to the invoice even long weekend. The kept us waiting for more than half an hour to check and clarify. When we have the defense on this price discrepancies they seem not really happy and show us the negative attitude where the hotel staff should not have. |2. The room#612: the room may be used for the previous guest as I saw the spot on the bedsheet, the tissue box in the toilet is used, the smell in room is not fresh so the cleanliness of this room is ZERO. Don’t look at the room condition as you could not find it in this room. You should not compare the physical room to the picture, otherwise you will hurt yourself and blame to your self that you make a big mistake. |3. The Hotel water system: they said that you have to wait till the water getting warm (around 20-30minutes by turning the water on). When compare to another room on level#1016 I can get the hot water (not warm) immediately after turn it on a few second. |3.1 HELLO!! hotel continentalGM I am not booking the hotel here to educate your water system and understand how is it working and waste my time to wait for the hotel water. Logically, when we would like to take a shower, we need the hot water within minutes not an hour. Especially when the outside is raining and I got flu so I really need the hotel water. |3.2 No need to inform them anything they thought we make something up and will not care even you got flu and need the hot water during raining day|4. the air con in room#612 is totally cold even you turn the |5. I got the new room after I have tried very hard to ask for changing the room the I got 605 which is not really difference but better than the previous one and I felt really tired to talk to them. |6. The WIFI on new room#605 is not working at all. For tourist we need wifi as we would like to save our internet. |7. BREAKFAST: please do not book the breakfast as there are only TEA/coffee/ Boiled egg/ bread/ 1 hotdish /milk and never fill up, they claim themselves as American breakfast but street food is a lot better. Read moreLocation is bad as it's not convenient to drive in Parking is small and dark RM100 deposit is required, only Cash or CC. Since I didn't have cash and CC, they took my driving license. Technically, I will leave for work in the morning and only return in the night - without license. How brilliant could that staff be. This booking is made under company, it should be enough for them. Anyway, there isn't anything to damage or take from this rundown hotel. Room is very old; toilet is extremely small. Those who are claustrophobia, please do not even consider this hotel. There is no hot water shower. They said warm only and that also need to wait for 20 minutes. Leave the water running, but the fact it wasn't even warm. I am not allowed to take cold shower, as I was just discharged from hospital for bronchitis. The hotel staff is not friendly at all and do not even offer to help when I complained about the shower Room was not cleaned despite having make up the room notification on. Left in the morning, came back at 11pm to find the room in a mess. It was quite an experience dealing with the reception. First, I called and was told, "Ma'am, you need to put the notification on for housekeeping to clean." I responded that I had already done so, yet my room was still not made up. Then, as if it couldn’t get any worse, he casually mentioned, "Oh, well, housekeeping has left for the day. They only work till 10 PM." Seriously? You’re running a 24-hour hotel, but your housekeeping service stops at 10 PM? Absolutely stunned. Instead of a sincere apology and an immediate offer to send fresh towels, all I got was, "Let me see what I can do." Excuse me? What kind of service is this? A simple "I sincerely apologize, let me get you fresh towels right away" would have sufficed. But nope, Eugene decided to leave me with "let me see what I can do." Absolutely wonderful service, Eugene. I had been out for work since morning and only got back to the hotel at 11 PM, only to be greeted by this amazing service. As if that wasn’t frustrating enough, I also had to wait 20-30 minutes for the shower to finally give me so-called warm water. Seriously? This is beyond disappointing. Penang Government, please take note! Hotels that fail to meet basic service standards should not be allowed to operate. As a major tourist destination, Penang’s reputation is at stake. Poorly managed hotels will only tarnish the island’s good name and leave visitors with bad experiences. It’s time to clean up the industry and ensure only deserving establishments...
