Tonight we felt like an Indian Tandoori meal, and took the advice of a local, who gave a choice of 3 different restaurants. We settled at Kashmir, as it was close by, and the reviews were mixed. We were met at the door by the owner and his staff, and greeted with much laughter. There is a sign outside that says, this is the best Tandoori chicken in the world. So, challenge accepted. Once inside, the owner made many suggestions of what dishes to have, to complement what we were intending to order, and that’s fair enough. The tandoori chicken was very tender, and tasty, as well as the lamb rib/cutlet. Just a word to the wise, read the menu prices for the lamb, as it may come as a shock later. The curries we had included a daal, sizzling chicken and a prawn vindaloo. The vindaloo was a touch too salty, but that was rectified by the kitchen. Also, the yogurt and mint condiments were very good, and complimented the taste. The meal ended with a complimentary sweet each, that was nice. The heat of the spice I quite liked, but for those who cannot eat hot spice curry, please tell the kitchen for a milder version. I also need to compliment the wait staff, and the head madam, all very good people. My only criticism is that the meal was very expensive for Indian cuisine, given that this type meal is expensive in Australia. Not quite what we expected in Penang, given the level of competition around. Having said that, the meal was very tasty. Just make sure you pick from the menu, and make your...
Read moreThis restaurant was recommended by Elaine a lovely lady we met in a shopping Mall! Thanks Elaine we had an amazing meal!
Some people have previously said this restaurant is expensive, but I would say this is not a food court or street food, but it is a beautiful restaurant and the food is freshly made to order!
We were recommended food which enabled us to make an informed choice as to what we had.
Elaine had also recommended the Tandoori chicken and after discussing with the chef about spice levels (which for me was very mild !) we had the tandoori chicken and fish curry with Garlic Naan and saffron rice.
This was the nicest and tastiest chicken I have had since being in Malaysia and it was hot (not spicy hot), along with the Naan and the Saffron rice it has to be my best meal yet!
Better still as I had been a real wimp with my spice levels the chef brought out more chicken with more spice! I was a bit worried but actually I loved it - so a big thank you for allowing us to try this! And I am also pleased to say we were not charged for this!
Overall an amazing meal, friendly staff and yes a little more expensive but we felt good value for the meal we had! Beer is not cheap in...
Read moreIt's nested at a corner of the entire stretch of shop lots. Place is definitely cosy with a huge Indian vibe to it, adding the flare and the posh into Indian cuisine.
We were ushered to our table and started with some light appetisers, which appears to be some form of fried fritters, the manager taught us how it should be eaten. A dallop of yoghurt and some mint. We were also recommended dishes which suited our wants and needs.
Atmosphere was just decent. Large crowds do tend to create some distress. But it's alright if smaller crowds are present.
Food is delectable. Their naan are really fresh off the tandoor. Making the cheese ooze from the inside. Don't judge it by the 4 slices, they do really fill you up quickly. Claims of their tandoori chicken fell short as the portion was rather small? Yes, it was moist but mostly due to the chicken drenched in oil? But definitely should do better with a larger piece compared to the price point. It was just bones. Their mango lassi was on point. Not too sweet, nor too sour or rancid.
Pricing was pretty up there too. If you're into Indian cuisine then this place is a must. Great service, great good and also...
