My partner and I stayed at Pine Muntri in Georgetown, Penang for five days and five nights, and our total stay cost us just under 500 MYR—an incredible deal considering the location and amenities. At roughly ₱1,000 per night, it’s easily one of the best budget-friendly stays available. While it’s not a luxury hotel, it delivers exactly what you’d expect at this price point — and perhaps a little more.
The accommodation strikes a balance between communal and private spaces, making it a great choice for both social travelers and those who prefer solitude. The self check-in and check-out process was seamless, and with 24/7 online reception and security, we felt safe and well-supported throughout my stay.
Its location is another plus — nestled in a quiet neighborhood, yet within walking distance of both the charming heritage streets of Lebuh Muntri and the livelier red-light district of Love Lane and Lebuh Chulia. The property’s multiple entry points, both at the front and back, provide convenient access to parallel roads, making it easy to explore the area.
For travelers looking for affordability without compromising basic comfort and accessibility, Pine Muntri is a practical choice. Just set the right expectations—this is a no-frills stay, but for the price, it’s...
Read moreI really want to give this place a 5 star rating but unfortunately, as a light sleeper, I can't.
The hostel is, for me, within walking distance from the ferry. Takes around 15 min. The location is great, right in the middle of the old city, through the backdoor 5 minutes away from the central shopping centre and bus terminal. And a 7-11 & Family mart right around the corner.
As I arrived early I asked if the room was available, which was the case, and I was allowed in. (Not a fan of the digital door locks though). The room was big, spacious, with a comfortable bed. And the amenities were more then suficient. The biggest downside is the lack of noise proofing. As your ceiling is your top neighbours wooden floor you could hear every move or whisper from that room. And for me, as a light sleeper, that is far from ideal. However, luckily, after two nights my noise neighbours above me checked out and were replaced by significantly quieter people.
Communications are via phone. No check in desk. But every time I asked a question I had a reply within minutes.
Overall a great hostel, but please be mindful of your fellow travellers as noise travels easily within...
Read moreThe manager is extremely rude and the staff showed me two rooms that were not clean at all and had not been made up from the last guest: the manager told me I was lying. The shared bathroom is too far from the upstairs room and the stairs are difficult to climb with luggage. Really regret staying here.
I actually arrived at the property at 3:15 and both rooms had not be cleaned at all. Your staff was here and he knows the room we’re not cleaned. You told me I can not cancel my booking and I told you I wasn’t able to cancel it as there was no free cancellation. So you are lying now.
The rooms had not been made at all and yes I have every right to be annoyed as I expect a clean room and both were not clean.
You went into my room and touched my personal belongings without my permission after I had checked In and paid for the room, this is unacceptable at all. You have no right to touch anyone’s stuff and enter their room.
I left you a bad review and you kicked me out of the room. This...
