2nd review Have been here numerous times for family dinner but never took pictures or reviewed cos the type of food we ordered was always the same 😂

Tried something different this time and again food was good as usual:

  1. Prawn paste chicken wings - very juicy but slightly under-seasoned. Prefer the skewered chicken wings. Pieces were large so worth the price

  2. Pork ribs with tendons in claypot. Very flavourful, tendons were super soft and meat fall off the ribs nicely. The claypot came with some mushrooms and vegetables and this reminds me of the claypot with soft bones dish

  3. Tofu with chai poh - a tad too salty for me but the bonito flakes were a good addition.

  4. Lime and lemon sotong - portion is a bit small and a bit too sourish for my liking. The sotong was cooked perfectly though, not too rubbery. Might not reorder - prefer the salt and pepper squid.

1st review This is my family's favourite place for dinner and a value-for-money Chinese 'dai chow' place. Usually super packed during dinner so, either come early or make reservations.

Came here for lunch with colleagues and ordered dishes which are not my usual family dinner types. As usual the food did not disappoint and indeed was value for money.

1️⃣ Stir fry green dragon (fresh and not overcooked) - so no complains. The dish was flavourful and well-seasoned as well (ie not bland) and not too salty.

2️⃣ Salt and pepper squid -- Demolished within 5 mins of it arriving thus it is superb. Again, dish was fried to perfection, not drenched in oil and the batter stayed crispy even after a while. I usually don't like my food in batter but this was alright to me

3️⃣ 4 style tofu which was basically the same fried tofu but with different toppings. This was my least favourite but not to say it is not delish. This was nothing to shout about as the only difference about the style was the 'toppings' hence no surprises. Diners who like to try different styles might want to order this.

4️⃣ Honey baby ribs - recommended if you are not keen on the pricier Iberico pork. Very flavourful, tender meat which falls off the bone. I love this and thus highly recommended, although if you don't have rice, this might be too sweet/salty.

5️⃣ Vietnamese eggplant - not too oily although fried and comes with a pleasant sauce. Think tempura but with Vietnamese sauce. Although this was good - don't think I would order this again - I'd rather have some stir fry greens

6️⃣ Skewered fried chicken wings. To me, chicken wings are superb. They are...

ZK Restaurant Food Review Location: Pudu Date of Visit: 20250209 . It was my first time at ZK, and the place was alive with energy. The three shop lots were packed, filled with laughter, clinking glasses, and the lively buzz of diners capturing moments over steaming dishes.

We kept it simple but delicious—oil-steamed Soon Hock, Thai-style steamed squid, seafood tofu, stir-fried kale, and refreshing coconut jelly. .

  1. Oil-Steamed Soon Hock Rating: 5/5 The oil-steamed Soon Hock was an absolute delight. The fish was incredibly fresh。 The light soy sauce and aromatic oil complemented the natural sweetness of the fish without overpowering it. The steaming technique was spot-on, preserving the moisture and tenderness of the flesh. A must-try for seafood lovers! .
  2. Thai-Style Steamed Squid Rating: 3/5 The Thai-style steamed squid had potential but fell short in execution. While the flavors of the sauce were promising—with a tangy, spicy, and slightly sweet profile—the texture of the squid was overly chewy, making it difficult to enjoy. The dish could benefit from a shorter cooking time to preserve the squid's tenderness. With some refinement, this dish could be a standout. .
  3. Seafood & Tofu Clay Pot Rating: 4.5/5 The clay pot was packed with a generous mix of seafood—prawns and fish—along with silky tofu. The broth was rich and flavorful, with a subtle umami depth. A satisfying dish that warms the soul. .
  4. Stir-Fried Kale Rating: 4/5 The stir-fried kale was a simple yet well-executed dish. The kale was fresh and retained a nice crunch, while the garlic and light seasoning added just the right amount of flavor. It was a great palate cleanser and balanced out the richer dishes. A healthy and tasty side dish! .
  5. Refreshing Coconut Jelly Rating: 5/5 The coconut jelly was the perfect way to end the meal. Light, refreshing, and not overly sweet, it had a delicate coconut flavor and a smooth, jelly-like texture. Served chilled, it was a delightful dessert that left us feeling satisfied but not heavy. A must-order for dessert lovers! . The meal was a fantastic blend of flavors and textures, the service was attentive, and the ambiance was cozy and inviting. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable dining...

Has been trying out at this place for many months ( Almoss daily) and has yet to disappoint any of us. Best yet we still have not the chance to try out all the items on their menu. Their siew yok fry rice is literally 2nd to none. Many tried but can't come close. Price wise, super affordable. And they do cater to special order such as fish porridge ( with a variety of fish meat) type of fish or any other condiments of your choice.. Well I do from time to time place an overnight order for a pot of " lap mai" rice. It's good for 4 persons and not expensive for under rm 50 a pot. Their chef never fails to surprise us. Highly recommended and affordable even on a daily basis. Another item I do wished to highlight its their real authentic double boiled soups. Though limited in varieties, it's available everyday from as affordable at just rm 4 a std restaurant bowl to RM 28 with black skin chicken. I do tended to order a bowl for everyone whenever we're there! They also serve shark fin soup ( whether real or not,, I'd never ask and I've yet to try it. For pawns, their supplies cones from sepetang, perak. It's actually huge and goes doublely well with their superior kicap sauce dry fry pawns. So infused with the pawn taste. Ikan kembong do appear on their offered menu as fried kembong with lemon.. Lastly their crabs are huge and a quick sell out everyday. Be wise and always book your items early or risk teary disappiuntment. Highly notable was the fact their fishes on offered are not expensive. A word of advice, book your dishes early and likely you'll get the best!! That's coming from a person who patronise the place almost daily, every late evening. Best time your arrival is at about 8 or slightly after, save your the waiting time for a seat / table. Lately we've been trying their new intented menu, I would recommend their rice wine chicken dried and the wet type. Both was a 4 stars in taste. Not to forget, lap mai fan in lotus leaves. It has dried oysters and fatty pork pieces besides the " yun cheong, mushroom" & salted egg Seriously it's becoming a must have/ ordered for my family it is good for 3 to 4 persons. The only sad news, you must place an advanced order for this lotus...

Another old establishment in the Pudu area that has stood the test of time. In fact, there are quite a few of these Chinese restaurants around the same are, but ZK is well known for its double boiled soups and most other dishes. When you arrive, don't be surprised that four non-consecutive shop lots will greet you, all with the ZK name. That's because they have expanded and extended their dining areas beyond the one shop lot into 4. The kitchen is opposite the restaurant where you will find 4 chefs cooking away in front of 4 big burners. Very unique. Parking here is scarce, but not impossible to find, if you're willing to drive around the shop around the back areas and park there. Just be prepared for a little walk. The menu is quite extensive, broken down into the different meat groups and vegetables. So you can order one of every group if you wish. They are also known for their double-boiled soup. Inquire as to what the soup du jour (soup of the day) is. I especially like the Marmite pork ribs here. Sweet and tangy pork ribs, cooked to perfection. Also, if you're in a large group, order the "sailboat". Prices are quite reasonable and you can be assured of a good meal, be it lunch or dinner. Just go early, and I do mean early, if you want to secure a seat.
