It was getting late and we needed to book some rooms. Somewhere. Anywhere. Someone mentioned Rose Crest, so we ventured there and spoke to the receptionist. The lady was very polite and friendly, agreed to show us the room first before we booked. ||||We took the small lift to the first floor and viewed a double room. Well, double room in name. It was very small. The double room was really 2 single beds pushed together with a double bed sheet over the top. The space between the wall where the bed was against and the opposite side was about 30cm at most. ||||There were no windows either. A small desk was on the other side of the room and next to that was the wardrobe. Another small table held the coffee sachets and glasses.||||The bathroom was simple; a sink, a toilet and an open plan shower that seems to be the norm for locals. ||||We checked in! Well, it looked clean and we were hungry.||||The hotel is right in the middle of the main high street, so for convenience, it's ideal. The prices are great, but that comes at a price, or rather, you get what you pay for. ||||After checking in and going to my room, I opened the wardrobe to put some clothes to hang. Wow! What a smell, so I removed a hanger, closed it and hung mu clothes on the door handle. The bed was relatively comfortable, but the pillows were cheap foam and I couldn't get the right height. 1 pillow was too low and 2 meant it was too high! Oh well. The price you pay!||||I switched on the TV (you're given the remote control on check in), but there were no English channels, so I switched it off again. Even if there were, honestly, the TV is so far away, you need some binoculars to watch!||||The wifi is okay, slow, but that's Cameron Highlands. There was not much else to do other than sleep. Or try to. The paper thin walls mean you can hear everything the next door neighbours are doing. Mine liked playing with the tap in the bathroom at 2am!||||We were told that we had to switch on the water heater 20 minutes before using it which was okay. A bit of a pain, but it was fine. I brushed my teeth and found out the drain in the sink was clogged, so it took ages to go down.||||Oh, bring your own toiletries. They don't have shampoo or shower gel, but you do get a few small bars of soap. Well, I made sure I had finished using the bathroom before showering and spraying the entire room with water. The shower was powerful. More than I expected, so the bathroom got a really good wash too!||||The towels have seen better days. Fluffier days. Oh, the air conditioner doesn't have any controls, so it is set by the hotel and the switch is by the door. It's either on or off.||||Well, what can you expect. It's cheap and cheerful. the lady at reception is always pleasant.||||The hundred Ringgit question; Would I stay here again? Only in...
Read moreWe chose this hotel for two reasons : the great location (smack in the middle of Tanah Rata town) and the price (an irresistible discount in view of the current covid19 situation). We were not disappointed. Our room was comfortable, adequate bedding, bottled water thoughtfully provided. We also liked the layout of the minimalist but adequately appointed bathroom with its limitless supply of hot water (very important in view of the cold wet weather). |Our only complaint would be that there was a strong ammonia smell emanating from the toilet bowl. The water in the toilet bowl was also always slightly discoloured no matter how often we flushed it but as we were only staying a night, we weren’t too fussed. |We did find it slightly disconcerting that the staff constantly made themselves quite at home on the sofas of the reception area but perhaps they’re the owners so it’s their style. |Would definitely recommend the hotel at the current...
Read moreI have 2 issues to highlight about the service.
The staff is rude. She opened the door of the room we rented not even bother to knock it first, i was with my kids on the bed, half naked. She said because the door was unlocked, and it is normal for the staff to do the spotcheck time by time. My bad i didnt lock the door but courtesy speaking, knock the door first because we RENTED the room!
Tourism tax fee, my husband already booked it via Xpedia using USD currency. And in the receipt, it only stated we have to pay +-USD2 only. But the staffs including the manager were SOOOO ignorant about that currency so we had to pay more of the taxes, simply because we paid in USD but they say that they still need the MYR amount one. I dont mind about the amount because it is not that expensive but please do some research about the tax that we paid first from...
