Absolutely disgusting place—easily the worst dining experience of my life. From the moment I walked in, I regretted it. The entire restaurant was infested with flies—on the tables, in the air, crawling on the food. It was like eating in the middle of a garbage dump. I couldn’t even sit comfortably, let alone eat in peace. Every second, I was waving my hands, trying to keep flies off my face and plate. It was unbearable.
I politely asked one of the staff why there were so many flies, and all he did was shrug and say, “What to do?” That’s it. No apology, no explanation, no effort to solve the problem. Just pure laziness and complete lack of concern for hygiene or customer experience. That response alone shows how poorly this place is managed.
What shocked me even more was seeing some foreign tourists sitting and eating like it was completely normal. I honestly don’t understand how they could tolerate such a filthy environment and still enjoy their meal. I was disgusted and couldn’t even focus, and yet they seemed unfazed.
And don’t even get me started on the food—bland, poorly cooked, and clearly not fresh. Combine that with the swarm of flies, and it made the entire experience feel like punishment. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, not even for free. It should be reported to health authorities and shut down until they fix their hygiene standards.
Avoid this place at all costs. Total disaster from...
Read moreYou must try this restaurant when coming to Tanah Rata in the Cameron Highlands. They serve both Indian and Chinese food but we mostly stuck with the Indian cuisine, although I would like to come back to try some of the Chinese style noodles. The service here is top notch with many smiling employees eager to serve up delicious meals and ready to answer any questions about the cuisine. The price is very reasonable as well, we didn’t spend more than $10 USD when eating for 2 people. Also very convenient that they accept credit card! The food here was flavorful, aromatic and delicious. We tried Chicken Jalpharezi (chicken cooked with mixed vegetables), butter chicken, garlic naan, paneer masala (tofu & cheese), chicken shahi kurma (boneless chicken cooked in creamy sauce with spice selection), lime juice, Teh Tarik, and masala teh. Our favorite dish was the paneer masala which was recommended by one of the employees. Coming in second, we had a tie between the Jalpharezi and the Shahi Kurma… would happily order both of those again. This and the restaurant next door (Highland Spice) were our two favorite restaurants in Cameron Highlands. I highly recommend giving this...
Read moreOverall (3/5): A nice tasting curry let down by worrying hygiene.
Food (4/5): My chicken curry with fresh naan had great taste, but the chicken was a little dry and perhaps had been 'waiting' a while. A little too much oil too, but very nice overall. The veggie banana leaf looked good and had 5 sides as promised.
Veggie friendly (4/5): Indian cuisine usually has a nice range for veggies. The banana leaf was all taken from the buffet, would have been nicer fresh.
Price (4/5): At around RM7 the banana leaf is excellent value.
Service (!/5): The guys out front are very nice and polite. The chef coming out the toilet didn't wash his hands and that is a black mark...
Atmosphere (2/5): Waiting for the toilet gave me a good chance to peak in the back. Its pretty dirty here, with old garlic lying amongst the cups, sacks of onions up the stairs and a general feeling that whole place needs to be pressure washed. With...
