Starbucks Cameron Highlands — Restaurant in Pahang

I ventured into this Starbucks as I had some time to spare. I didn't expect much, but then I noticed they had pour over coffee so I went for it. The experience that followed was nothing short of amazing. The competent barista girl made me seat at a special connoisseur sitting area, and proceeded to set up a full-blown pour over coffee ceremony, starting by make me smell the chosen beans, then preparing the equipment, wetting the filter, weighting and grinding the beans. She then poured the water, allowing for the coffee to bloom, with elegant, experienced movements. The resulting coffee was superb, and, for once, I could properly taste those citrus and chocolate notes that some coffee varieties are supposed to give. It's a Starbucks and the outlet in this little hamlet up around the Highlands seems to be one of the bigger branches. Located at the heart of Tanah Rata. Coffee from any of these outlets is predictably consistent with their grade of dark roasted beans.

The hot espresso based brews here using their in-house beans are a big highlight especially during the evenings when weather takes a turn to the cooler side making these drinks a welcome panache to the occasional chilliness especially when a tropical shower passes by. Sometimes “against this or that” hurts innocents too ie locals and most of all innocent hard working Malaysian citizens are all the same world over ..wanting to earn honest decent living.
