I think I should let all the parent know my experience here. I first started my baby's foundation at mk163, she grew from disliking the water on her face to a much more enjoyable learning experience at the end of the course. Due to the cost matter, I transferred her to this branch(Sunway) recently. It was a group class, taught by coach Yu Fen. For my first class, the coach was abit shocked when she found out that my baby's pace was still abit slower compared to the other babies. My baby was coughing at almost all the submersions, which she never did at mk163. Of course, she was cranky and crying all the way. So I thought maybe it was just the new environment and new teaching style from the new coach that she has to get adapt to. I proceeded with 1x make up private lesson with coach Daniel the week after. The thing about private class is the coach giving all his/her attention to your baby, so I definitely felt better as a parent throughout the lesson. He told me that I should try reducing my gliding speed under the water so my baby feels more comfortable. On the other hand, i felt like coach Su Fen was rushing it through my gliding speed. It was a good advice from coach Daniel even though my baby still cried at the end of it. Last week, I attended a second group lesson with coach Yu Fen. I took initiative to talk to her as I would like to know her feedback about my daughter's progress. She didn't say much about it, she then went to have a chat with the other coach even though the class hasn't started. To be honest, it was probably just my own subjective opinion, I think if you want to be a kids coach you need to show me a great, positive and friendly vibes. So the kids would love you. I obviously can't see this trait in her or that she just dislike me for some reasons. Same as the previous lessons, my baby ended up crying most of the time, wanting to leave the pool at the end of the lesson. I think the coach Yu Fen might be too pushy for my daughters pace. I did feel much more insecured when i was doing each submersion as i wasnt sure whether shes actually looking or not. I came back now, had a thought about it, decided to share my experience and feeling in the lesson to happy fish school. I can't see the point of paying so much to have my poor baby being traumatised for life. I definitely don't want my baby to develop water phobia in the future. I am definitely not going back to the group lesson so I told the school that I do not mind to top up the balance to upgrade to private 1 on 1 lesson. They haven't got back to me, I can only hope that my baby is able to forget all about the bad experience that she had in the first few lessons with coach Yu Fen. Please do not change the school or coach with your baby otherwise you might end up like me. I'll keep you guys updated on how the school handled my...
Read moreHappy fish Our baby turned 6 months and we wanted her to learn swimming for her first active activity as a baby. We decided on Happy Fish as recommended, but it turned out to be a poorly managed way of business minded rather than a teaching school. We signed up for a term which had 10 classes on a weekly basis and out of the 10 classes, 4 classes were taught by relief coaches. Our baby had fun while being taught by the original coach but cried all the way during the relief coach sessions. I mean seriously? Half the term was taught by a relief coach, do they expect our baby to be comfortable with someone that they’re unfamiliar with?
Babies thrive on routine and familiarity, we noticed inconsistency in their teaching method. The original coach took a step by step way to teaching which is good for baby to adjust. However, the relief coach is way too fast in teaching method, immediately instructed our baby to use advance submersion technique, it felt like a diving lesson rather than swimming lesson. Why I felt this way? Original coach submersion count was by 1 second count, while relief coach was by 4 seconds count. That’s why our baby cried non stop and reluctant to continue the lesson.
On certain days, the pool water was cold and different temperature from other days. It was supposed to be a warm pool.
So I raised the above 👆🏻 to the management as a concerned parent, and their reply was :
The reason for the relief coach session is because it’s a wedding season. So I am expected to accept that I registered my baby’s swimming class in the wrong time.
The water was slightly below their standard temperature and they are aware of that because of the power outrage the night before. Did they inform the parents? Nope.
The best part is, I spoke to a guy who tried to explain the above to me. He said that he will discuss with the management and reach out to me on a solution. He ghosted me ever since and it has been 3-4 months ago. Very business minded right? Took my money but provides subpar quality, inconsistent and poor...
Read moreHappy Fish is a swimming school with a clean and welcoming environment, complete with a heated pool. Coach Jin deserves special praise for his exceptional teaching skills. He has helped my 5-year-old daughter gain confidence in the water and she absolutely adores him. Jin provides clear instructions, enabling the kids to perfect their swimming techniques effectively. Learn to swim is not just about techniques etc but for a 5 year old is about learning how to listen and follow instructions, be disciplined about it, knowing when to push the limit, and of course have fun along the way and Coach Jin definitely delivers in this.
Highly recommends Happy Fish to any parent looking for a place where their child can learn and...
