i've been to many sushi zanmai outlets in klang valley and the food tasted amazing each time, but one thing that i have to comment about is the terrible service. why is it the same for every outlet to be short of staff?
food was extremely slow. i asked for my chawanmushi and sashimi which was ordered approx. 30 mins ago to be cancelled only to find out that the sashimi had already been prepared, just not served out by anybody. i was already finishing my meal and was ready to leave at that time. the service is mediocre. there was this particular staff from this outlet who has caught my attention (and many other customers' attention too, i believe).
as someone who is also working in the f&b industry, i understand it's frustrating for it to be busy and feeling like you have to do everything on your own but one thing you don't do is throw out your frustration when there are customers around.
this staff was on her way to clean a table and when she arrived, she pulled at the table until it was out of place. it caused a lot of commotion and surrounding tables (including me and my family) were shocked by it. the plates and cutleries fell to the floor from the force and she was nonchalant about it, didn't even properly pick up the plates that fell to the floor and proceeded to bring another group of customers in.
this behaviour was shocking to see from a staff working in sushi zanmai and i hope it never...
Read moreFood : 0 star. We had patronised this restaurant outlet a few times before MCO but it was the first time we re-visited after the pandemic. We ordered don, ramen, teppanyaki, tempura and sushi. Upon first bite, the only word that appeared in our mind was "AWFUL"! The food quality had dropped so much compared to the pre-MCO period. The tempura was so soggy, don was tasteless and ramen broth was so plain yet salty. The only edible one was probably the teppanyaki.
Portion : 3 star. Not generous but reasonably sufficient for a normal eater.
Ambience : 3 star. The outlet was not new but still maintained quite well. Clean and tidy. Just mediocre and minimal adornments.
Service : 0 star. Food serving time was unreasonably long. Took them 30 minutes to serve the first dish, and the rest in a stagger manner within the next 30 minutes after repeated complaints by us. The waitress even disallowed me to put an extra chair next to the table to take care of my child by giving some weird reasons.
Price : 4 star. The prices considered reasonable compared to other similar cuisines. No 10% service charge and only the 6% government tax.
Location : 1 star. The restaurant was located at a rather obscure spot of the mall and we needed to walk quite a long way before reaching the restaurant. Not convenient for older...
Read moreThis is one of my all-time favorite Japanese restaurants, and I find myself coming back here again and again. Not only is the food consistently delicious, but they also offer great promotions from time to time, which makes it even more worth it.
During my recent visit, I ordered the sour fried rice, Japanese fried chicken, their recommended sushi selection, and the soy sauce chicken rice. Every single dish was absolutely perfect for my taste buds. The sour fried rice had a nice tangy kick without being overpowering, the Japanese fried chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy inside, and the sushi was fresh and well-prepared. The soy sauce chicken rice was flavorful, with tender chicken and perfectly cooked rice — simple, but so satisfying.
I also appreciate the cozy and clean environment, with friendly staff who always make the dining experience pleasant. The food presentation is neat, portions are reasonable, and the menu offers a great variety of Japanese-inspired dishes that cater to different preferences. Whether you’re dining alone, with family, or with friends, this place is a reliable choice for good quality Japanese food at reasonable prices.
Highly recommended to anyone who loves Japanese cuisine or is looking for a nice, casual dining spot with consistent...
