One of the most horrible and overpriced restaurants ever:- I came in early at around 4pm because I do not want to join the dinner crowd. However, the front crew told me that I only have 2 hours to eat. You do not impose time limit if you charge rm 65 for a plate of pork! Moreover, this is not a peak period. You can see in the photos, noone was there! After that, the staff bother to talk so long explaining the menu, taking up my 2 hours meal time. If you want us to eat within 2 hours, you yourself better hurry up! While explaining the menu to us, there is new customers coming and the staff decided to shout in front of us to welcome them. How rude. Then they said no pork bone soup because it's not cooked yet?!? You opened at 12pm and you don't bother to cook the soup then? The other soups: spicy, mushroom and tomato are worse than those soup base you get at aeon big. Those off the counter soup bases are way better and way cheaper! Also the spicy soup is too oily you can get a heart attack from it. We ordered fish and pork, after 2 minutes they said the pork I chose was not available. Then I chose an alternative. Then again after 2 minutes, they said the fish that I chose is not available. How horrible. If there's anything not available, you should tell the guests upfront. And can't you tell what are not available in one go? Instead of every 2 minutes? On top of that, I was seated next to the entrance so everytime someone came, they shouted in front of me like nobody's business. One time we were in the midst of talking and the staff still shouted so rudely in front of us. We can't even hear ourselves anymore. Seriously?!? You call that hospitality?!? When the food came, they decided to put the food in a wooden trolley next to me. How are the person sitting beside me able to see the food?? The table is too small and putting the food hidden under rack is not solving the problem! The whole dining experience is horrible and utterly disappointing. That was my first and last time. Never again. I even declined their voucher. One of the worst dining experiences...
Read moreFirst time @ Shu Da Xia. Was pleasantly surprised by the food, where quality is actually pretty good!
What gave an even more pleasant surprise was the service. Our table was looked after by Lucas, on of the restaurant’s attendant. His service was nothing short of spectacular. 5 stars? Bro, he deserves nothing less than 10 stars! Dude was attending to a few tables at once, and at one time he was helping out some customers a few tables away, my chopsticks dropped on the floor. I took another clean pair that was on the table and put the dirty chopsticks aside. After he was done helping the customer, he suddenly appeared with a pair of new chopsticks in front of me… talk about being observant.
He was so nice throughout the whole time we were there and we actually saw a lot of customers actually asking for his name to give him good reviews on Google. Dude he actually deserved it so much. I hope Shu Da Xia knows how good he is lest he gets copped by Hai Di Lao.
He did a lot more but it will be a long ass review just to write all that down, and that was us just being there only for an hour. Speaks much of his service.
All in all, good food with even better experience! Thanks Lucas :) Attached a picture of him attending to a customer...
Read moreLonging to try out this highly rated mala hotpot. Be sure to call both branch to check table availability and bookings. Waiting time is expected if you dont make a booking, but you could always take a stroll in sunway pyramid while waiting, they will call you when its almost your turn. Soup base is top notch among many hotpot that ive tried, but the mala is a bit way too oily for consumption. I always take a few sips of other mala soup base at lamei hotpot, but the mala soup here is just way too oily. The pork bone soup base is also very aromatically sweet. The best part of my whole visit is the service level of the staffs. Very friendly, accommodating and willing to serve. I consider service at HDL somewhat excessive. Dishes and condiment are all great. Pork and lamb slices are also sliced to thin perfection. I felt lamei hotpot is slightly cheaper and provided a slightly better value overall, ive checked some of the prices of the side, lamei is consistently cheaper, and given that lamei do provide free beers per 100 spending n loads of voucher. Anyhow... shu daxia did provided a conciously better service n cleaner cozier dining...
