I opted for the vegan burger during my visit. While undoubtedly on the pricier side at RM 52 before tax, I had anticipated a remarkable culinary experience for the cost. However, the overall impression fell somewhat flat. The burger lacked the expected "wow" factor, and I believe a more skillful balance of flavors could have elevated the dish. The black bean patty introduced a pleasant touch of sourness, but this note was unfortunately echoed by the tangy sauce and pickled onions, resulting in an overpowering sourness throughout. Incorporating sweeter elements, such as caramelized onions instead of pickled ones, could have imparted a richer flavor profile. The sauce, if less sour and more substantial, like a cilantro vegan mayo, would have contributed to better harmony. The burger bun's density posed an issue; each bite lacked the desired satisfaction and ease of consumption. Even cutting through it proved less than seamless. I accompanied the burger with a side salad, served with a sour lime-infused dressing that added yet another sour component. Consequently, the entire dish felt unbalanced and tilted towards excessive sourness.
In addition, my friend decided to go for their promotional lunch, opting for the American burger priced at RM 29, which included a complimentary lemonade. His assessment was that while the discounted price was reasonable, he wouldn't have been as content if he had paid the original RM 49, considering the burger's relatively basic nature. He found that other establishments offer more satisfying American burgers in comparison. On a positive note, their freshly cut potato fries managed to stand out, providing an enjoyable accompaniment to the meal. Overall I don't think the meals were...
Read moreGiven my husband's discerning burger palate and expertise in burger evaluation, we ventured to this restaurant despite its distant location from the city center. Our decision was further reinforced by our positive experience at the same chain in Singapore, where we savored exceptional burgers deserving top accolades.
Although the Kuala Lumpur branch mirrored the menu of the Singapore counterpart, we observed a noticeable reduction in the beer selection. Opting for our favorite—a wagyu burger with onion rings—we eagerly anticipated the revered flavors we had relished in Singapore.
Assessment: While the burger's components remained consistent—the same fillings. Sauces, and toppings perfectly nestled between delicate thin brioche buns—the wagyu patty appeared marginally lighter in weight and bore a subtle liver essence. Regrettably, it lacked the juiciness that had defined our prior experience in Singapore, despite ordering it to the same level of doneness. Consequently, the overall burger quality at this location fell short of our expectations from the Singapore branch.
An attentive note: the burger was remade for us to achieve the desired medium-rare state initially missed.
In summation, despite these nuances, this establishment still ranks as a premier burger destination in Kuala Lumpur. While the prices may lean towards the higher end compared to local cafes—our meal of a burger and two beers totaling 204 MYR. In conclusion, we wholeheartedly recommend a visit to savor these offerings—essence of a quintessential burger experience. 🍔 🍔 🍔 🍔 🍔...
Read moreHonestly never heard of Blacktap but decided to give it a try. Lamb burger was juicy but I feel it was not very flavorful, all I could really taste was just the lamb itself. Salted egg chicken sandwich, I couldn't taste the salted egg flavour whatsoever ,chicken was nicely fried. Grilled percik chicken sandwich, could taste the percik flavour and the chicken wasn't dry so not bad. Kimchi shrimp burger, patty was juicy but the kimchi flavour was really subtle. Sweet potato fries very ok. Terriyaki broccoli was alright. Brussels sprouts was crispy and really charred but there was a slight bitter taste. Fried mozzarella was nice but I feel that because they cut the mozzarella into big triangles rather than sticks it was really hard to finish and the marinara sauce was ok. Pandan mocktail was nice. Strawberry milkshake, couldn't really taste strawberry flavour it was more like a vanilla milkshake. Peanut butter milkshake, generous amount of peanut butter. Chocolate milkshake was nice. Brooklyn blackout, chocolate milkshake with brownie on top. I feel like it was just a basic milkshake with two slices of brownies on top and it was 66 ringgit. The fries were good but the onion rings was not. The onion was cut very largely and the batter was not your usual onion ring batter it reminded me of KFC original chicken batter. There wasn't that crunch I look for in an onion ring. This place is definitely not cheap so be prepared. If I ever do return I'll probably just return for a classic milkshake. Staffs were very friendly and attentive....
