Resort is very well kept and staffed. Although the rooms are old the cleaning staff does an excellent job and will clean your room daily. The only issue with this is that they clean it so thoroughly that it takes them almost an hour at times. We wanted to come back to our room multiple times but they were in there cleaning and one time they were there for almost an hour while we waited. We do appreciate their hard work and dedication to their jobs though. All the staff are very kind and welcoming. At the restaurants most of the time they are very polite and take great care of you. A few times we had the same server at the tajaban restaurant that was not super great and would walk right by our table even though we had ordered our food 30 minutes ago, or needed to order other stuff. But we had servers who were almost the opposite and were very good at making sure our food was on time and checked in on us. We had the all inclusive package which by the way is not ALL inclusive. “Prime cuts”, lobster, chef specials, room service, to go orders, and certain drinks are not included and instead have discounts. There were 2.5 restaurants open on the solmar side, the main tajaban restaurant, trebol restaurant and the sushi bar. We are at tajaban for breakfast because that is the only place that had it all days we were there, lunch most days, and dinner once. We had trebol once. And then the rest of the days we went to restaurants on the Grand solmar side which because it is separate it is not included in the all inclusive. I would not say it was cheap most places but all of them were super nice and service was great as well. The sports bar at the playa resort that is acressable was super slow though. The pool service is nice but not super speedy and it’s not guaranteed that you’ll be noticed. The pool is clean and kept well, there is a second pool with no service that’s small, as well. They take very good care of their property and have lots of staff doing every possible thing to make sure that you have a good time and that it stays clean, even raking the sand multiple times a day! Almost every part of the resort has a ocean view. We did notice a few rooms that didn’t and instead faced away. Our room had two balconies that had great views though. The beach is not swimmable at all, and doesn’t have cabanas or anything either and the water is down a slope because the waves and massive, they don’t have people watching it either and have signs instead to advertise the danger of swimming. We walked the beach daily and enjoyed watching the waves and saw some marine life. The resort is in walking distance from the hectic marina, people will try to sell you stuff left and right such as tours. If you plan to go on a tour the boat ride of the rocks and arch that cost $100 per person are the same at the marina for $3 (our lowest offer given), I understand that they try to make money but it’s sort of crazy how you can get the same thing for WAY less 100 feet away. The lady at the front that works for the hotel even told us that we could get it for cheaper. Speaking for her we noticed that it said to make reservations for stuff so we went down and asked her and all she did was give us a sticky note of places downtown not even in the resort, she wasn’t great at her job at all. We got multiple offers to go to a breakfast for a free sunset cruise, a 50% off sunset cruiser and then a 70% off sunset cruise. With experience with these scams we didn’t fall for their timeshare selling stuff. It is super safe and they only let people staying there or taxis past the security up the hill to the resort. Most of the staff speak some English that need to interact with the stayers some of them are clearly still learning though. Overall recommend this resort, it’s great staff most of the time. Only a a couple of mishaps. You get access to La Playa Grande and Grand Solmar which are just more expensive versions. I recommend staying at one of these resorts if you’re in Cabo, you can stay inside of it the whole time your in Cabo and not run out of...

I chose this hotel because it had predominately positive reviews, I'm on a budget, and it is reasonably priced. My stay here had the potential to be very good, however poor and extremely unprofessional staff made my stay just short of a nightmare. The main problem I had is with the key cards required to get into your room. Every time I left my room, I was locked out. If you bring your key card near an electronic device, it cancels the card, which is technology that I have used before at many hotels without issue. However, even when keeping my key card isolated in the pocket of my board shorts, upon bringing it out to get into my room, it would not work - not once - prompting me to walk to reception and back EVERY single time I needed to get into my room. This would sometimes turn into a 45+ minute process of me trying to get into my room. Not once did my key card work, even when kept far away from my electronics. Over the course of about 5 days, I probably spent an entire day (12+ hours) waiting around for a bellboy or staff to let me into my room. One time, the housekeeping ladies were outside my room - one of the ladies had just cleaned my room about 10 minutes earlier - so you would think she would trust that the room was in fact mine and let me in with her master-key. Not even the housekeeping staff would let me in. One lady tried to pretend like she couldn't help because she didn't speak English. I politely asked her in Spanish if she could let me in and pointed to her coworker who had personally cleaned my room no more than 10 minutes earlier. They said NO. AND, you cannot call the hotel from your cell phone. The phone number found online does not work.

My second complaint is that the hotel staff did nothing about various noise complaints which made it difficult to sleep. One night there was a party of 5-6 girls on the balcony very near my room. They were talking extremely loud - literally shouting at each other in Spanish - very audible even from a distance making it impossible to relax and sleep. I called the front desk to complain. An operator picks up the phone and transfers me to the front desk which took quite some time, perhaps because it was late at night around 11:30pm. I was waiting on my balcony for the security guard to show up to tell the party of girls shouting in Spanish to be quiet. After waiting some time, I called again as they were only getting louder. I was told by the front desk that the "security guard" walked by the room, noticed the party, but did nothing and blamed the boisterous noise on the fact that I was standing outside. I called again and I was told that "it's okay because we called." He told me they called their room but no one picked up. Their loud party on the balcony continued and kept me awake most of the night.

The WORST thing that happened to me at this hotel was at lunch. Yes, there are lots of people that come to Cabo to drink alcohol and lounge at the pool. I am not one of those people. Anyways, I ordered an iced tea. The first time I received an arnold palmer. I'm on a low-sugar diet - it was very, very sweet. I sent it back and asked for unsweetened. The waiter said no problem and comes back 15 minutes later with what appeared to be an iced tea. I took one sip and it did not take me more than a fraction of a second to detect the drink he gave me was extremely alcoholic. I had planned to go scuba diving that afternoon and had to cancel my plans and eat a cancellation fee because I was somewhat buzzed from the waiter serving a non-drinker a stiff cocktail at 3:45pm when I had just asked for an iced tea!

The sushi bar is a nice touch, especially with the all-inclusive bands. However, the service at the pool and restaurant is extremely slow. The restaurant(s) is clearly understaffed and overwhelmed. It takes 20+ minutes of sitting down just to even be noticed by staff. Then another 20-30 minutes just for your drink to arrive. AVOID this place if you...

Where do I even begin, I can honestly say that this resort single handedly ruined our vacation. From the rude staff members, to the promises of one thing and receiving another. The laughable idea of “Room Service”, but most importantly lack of communication. To give one example of the horrendous service we received, it all started from the moment we checked in.. We had advised the concierge that our flight times had changed and that we needed our shuttle earlier. she advised us that it had been changed and we were all good to go. I went back down to the front a day before our flight to confirm this change with a different concierge and they informed me that again things were all set. The day we are to leave the driver did not show up on time (as the time was NEVER changed!!) & The staff at the front desk was INCREDIBLY rude to us to a point that brought me to tears. Our shuttle bus arrived an hour late, causing a great amount of anxiety and stress. By the grace of god we made the flight (being the last to board the aircraft) I was and am still very upset by the way i was treated at the time of check out. The lack of caring, understanding & communication was outrageous. This is just 1 example of the many terrible things I experienced while at your resort & I will surely look into other resorts and be sure to warn anyone else planning a trip to Cabo to look into other resorts.

Suggestions: • Hire I friendlier staff the concierge that dealt with my check out should never treat people the way he treated me that day. I was literally brought to tears by his insulting and inconsiderate nature. • Hire more people to work for room service, It took us over an hour to get someone on the phone. As we were exhausted from a long day and starving but not wanting to venture out. Once we were finally able to order and it was received. The burger I ordered was so soggy that I couldn’t even pick it up. Despite how hungry I was, there was no way I was able to stomach it. I sent it back to be re-made which took 40 minutes!! By that time the hunger had set in and I had almost devoured my boyfriend’s whole meal. The burger was not much better than the one I previously received but I had no desire to deal with room service again as it took A HOUR to get someone to answer the phone. • Be HONEST with what you offer!! Your ad is very deceiving as all the photos you see in pictures are of this gorgeous resort with these amazing pools and scenic views. When in fact those are for NOT for Solmar but for the hotel next door. In which you are not allowed to enjoy, and the staff runs these timeshare scams all day trying to coax you into joining in order to use those pretty pools and the things that you thought were already included!!

Needless to say I will not ever be returning to Solmar when vacationing in...

Beautiful location on a private beach without the vendors. Understand that Solmar is quite different than the Grand Solmar nextdoor. When looking online it was not clear the distinction between the two. When we were showed our room I asked about the infinity pool. Our bellhop said that there wasn't one but the other Solmar resort had some. When we asked if we could check it out he said yes. The next morning we went to the pool at the Grand Solmar and found out that we didn't have access to the pool areas but could dine at the restaurants. They did let us stay the day because of the mix-up and we're very nice about it. Ok back to the Solmar. It definitely is an older resort starting to show it's age. Only one elevator worked in our building and some of the patch work updates don't look very good. The view from the room was good. We just got the basic room but it did have a nice ocean view. It seemed like most rooms do. The bed was comfortable and the cleaning staff great as well as the valets. The main problem I would say was they're understaffed probably because they're not busy due to covid. That being said we didn't receive great service from the pool bar staff. We aren't heavy drinkers so they wouldn't even check on us usually keeping their focus on the people who would drink all day. The pools definitely could have been cleaner. The Adult pool was better and usually we would have it to ourselves but the staff would never check there. Quite a variation in bartenders. The ones at the pool bar did make the best drinks. We only ate at the resort once and it was for breakfast. Good and I would say typical price for eating at a resort. Head into town to Casasola for breakfast simply amazing for much less than the resort but do make reservations. The beach is wonderful and very beautiful. FYI because of strong currents you can't get in the water. I wasn't too disappointed because I'm more of a pool person. The resort store and ATM are a ripoff. Go to the Oxxo store by the harbor for anything you need. Also we rented a car but because of lack of parking downtown we used Uber everywhere we went. The taxi is $7+ and our Uber has usually $2.50-$3 each trip without tip. The only bad thing is that they don't let Uber drivers pul up to the front door to pick you up. You have to meet them outside of the property. They do let them bring you back to the front door though. I'm not saying I wouldn't go back but I'll definitely check out other options next time.

I stayed at this resort 6/2-6/7 booked my reservation online and paid round trip for shuttle transportation from the airport. We had a fantastic time we really enjoyed our stay and their staff is phenomenal. I am giving them a low rating because of their concierge staff. The first issue I had with them was trying to arrange transportation from the airport. I received an email asking my flight information, I responded to them once I confirmed details and with an updated reservation number because we added two more nights to our stay. No response no confirmation. I called a couple times no answer. I emailed her again no response. I arrived and found the shuttle, the driver had to call to confirm we paid and why we weren’t on their schedule. Lucky for us they confirmed we had paid and took us to the hotel. At checkout we had to leave the hotel at 7am, shuttle service doesn’t start until 9am. So we took a cab and didn’t use the other half of the transportation fee we paid originally. I had spoken with concierge previous to this and they told me I could get reimbursed at check out. When I checked out the front desk told me I needed to get with concierge but they don’t arrive until 9am. My flight was at 10 so I emailed them. I’ve emailed them a total of 8 times and almost 3 months later they still haven’t reimbursed me. Several emails ago they had responded saying the reimbursement was on its way and a confirmation receipt would be sent to me. When i followed up they asked me for my transportation confirmation number. I gave them my hotel confirmation receipt I received from their reservations agent where it clearly states I paid for transportation and I was told that’s not the right number. I have no other number. My family and I really wanted to come back to Solmar for our upcoming trip in November. But this experience with concierge has really ruined that for us. Truly unfortunate because as I mentioned we really liked their other staff. Before you book here do your research on shuttle service. Call ahead before you pay for it.

We had a great time in Cabo at the Solmar Resort. The best decision of this trip was to upgrade from a studio to a 1 bedroom suite. The room didn’t feel updated, BUT the space itself was perfect for us, with a kitchenette, (including a stove, sink, small microwave, and full size refrigerator), 2 full bathrooms (with one enormous tub and enough water pressure for us to use both showers at the same time), and a balconies off both the living room and the bedroom. The AC was an important and much appreciated feature, as well. It's probably also helpful to know that while the resort and ocean views are gorgeous, the current is too strong to venture into the water behind the resort. Look, but don't touch. However, we were able to take a short walk to the local beach along the Sea of Cortez. There, it was calm enough to enjoy an afternoon floating in the sea. And because the resort pools were kept so warm, a dip in the ocean was especially refreshing. Location was decent, although don't expect to be directly in the middle of the action. We decided to wander instead of taking a ride into town most days. It took about 20-25 min to walk down to the heart of the bar and nightclub scene. Not bad, really. And of course there's always the option of getting a quick ride. Service was consistently friendly and helpful, and multiple reps from the Concierge team were great about providing general advice and suggestions for activities, bars, and restaurants. We had considered the all-inclusive plan, or even a day pass, but it ended up being unnecessary. We were glad we decided against it. Although we did eat a few meals at the restaurants (and food was fresh and delicious), we were there to explore. So it worked better for us to venture out and grab meals at local spots and even the neighboring resort for some variety. But for someone looking to mostly spend time unwinding at the resort, the all-inclusive option is probably great. Bottom line- I am very glad we chose to stay at Solmar, and I'd love to return someday.
