Our family stayed at the Hacienda Beach Club in early April 2015. We usually stay at one of the resorts on the corridor and this was the first time staying in town since our glory days on college spring break! We knew the scene in town would be quite different than what you get out on the corridor and so were ready for a more "party" atmosphere and that is definitely true. We were concerned that noise from Medano Beach would travel to our room and it turns out that in building four, where we were, it was no problem at all. As far as the unit is concerned (#4403) it was great! Lovely views, large patio, comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen, everything was great, upscale, clean, quiet, etc. We could walk to town, the beach, the pool, the harbor area, etc.
As for the resort itself, it is a nice place. Pretty pool, nice new buildings, great restaurant, great location in town. Where it fell down for us is the comparison to some of the high end resorts. We have stayed at the Palmilla, Las Ventanas and the Pedregal as a couple and with our family. For this trip we paid over $1000/night for a two bedroom residence. At the resorts mentioned you could probably get two rooms for a similar price . Maybe a little more/little less, depending (though at the time we went Pedregal was about 1000/room so we didn't stay there!) All of these resorts are nicer than the HBC. Better service, nicer pools, better views, at least equal restaurants, better bars (on property) and better beaches (at least to hang out on and look at). So, if you're just looking for a beautiful place to unwind and relax, this is not what I would pick. If you want to be in town, close to the restaurants, bars, etc. then it makes more sense. A final bone to pick was the lack of free bottled water. Everywhere else I have been they bring you a big bucket of ice with bottled water by the pool. For the price HBC should do the same. I will say that prices at the restaurant at HBC were more reasonable and the room with a kitchen was nice for breakfast.
A final note is the beach area. HBC sits on Medano Beach which can be either a blessing or a curse. The resort itself is on the end of the beach and is relatively uncrowded in the area where they have loungers, umbrellas, etc. They have roped off areas for swimming and very little surge so inexperienced swimmers will find it much easier than swimming at almost any other area. They have free paddle boards and other equipment and the beach staff are very friendly and helpful. If you walk down the beach about 200 yards it gets very crowded and busy. Lots of bars, the Mango Deck (check out their webcam to get an idea) and a lot of tourists and local vendors. Even in front of the hotel you can expect a vendor to walk by about every five minutes. They are polite and won't bother you if you indicate you aren't interested but they do keep coming. You can take a water taxi over to the "Lover's Beach" area and see the arch, etc. which is worth doing. You should also get lunch at "The Office" which is a short walk down the beach.
Bottom line? Do you want the activity and attractions in town or the calmer setting on the corridor? If you like to be in town then HBC is a great option, definitely better than the other big resorts on Medano Beach. I looked at a few of them and they are all huge buildings crowded around the packed pool area. At this hotel you can easily get to the activities but the resort itself is...
Read moreAfter reading several reviews about the Hacienda Beach Club & Residences including from a traveler journalist, I booked reservation for a 2 bedroom residence with ocean view. This was the perfect family vacation for me, my wife and our 18 and 21 year old kids. We will definitely be returning at least for another week without hesitation in near future! Great swimmable beach, beautiful pools & spa. Our 2 bedroom / 2 bath condo was amazing corner residence in building 5 with comfortable bedrooms, huge living and dining room, full kitchen with center island and large wrap around balcony. Views were as good as it gets!!! The entire staff was impeccably in tune with providing amazing service to the resort guests. They are so gracious and make every effort to make every moment of the guests time relaxing, memorable and exceptional. Yes Exceptional! I am talking service on par with that you would receive at Four Seasons and Auberge properties and many other luxury hotels around the world! Much respect and thanks to so many brilliant members of the Hacienda Beach Club & Residences team, but I have to say that Sebastian stood out throughout our short vacation. We felt like Sebastian was our unofficial resort concierge, always smiling, always asking if we need anything and available to provide recommendations for activities and dining. Sebastian is a true professional and gentleman. Hacienda Beach Club & Residences is so lucky to have Sebastian and their current team members. My family and I had several meals at the on-property restaurant as well at restaurants around Cabo. Hands down we had the best dinners during our time in Cabo at the on site restaurant. If we were to make one recommendation to the on site restaurant chef, please work on adding / modifying your dinner menu so guests aren’t limited to the same entrees every evening. Great resort, great staff, great overall experience. Thank you Hacienda Beach Club...

Now for the only piece that isn't perfection, but is in no way a reflection of the property itself. It's the college crowd partying related stuff that's just a fact of life for any popular, warm/beach destination like Cabo - especially during the peak of spring break - which is when we were there. Even then, because Hacienda isn't a college kid/spring break crowd type of property, we didn't run into any such issues on property.
Cabo itself is fantastic, and even during spring break, it's got a lot of great restaurants and bars that aren't doing the whole keg stand, shot-chugging, booze cruise thing. But especially if you want to be anywhere near town/marina - and especially if you want to be able to walk to/from - AND be on the beach, then you're going to hear the thumping bar scene from SOMEwhere. So we could definitely hear The Office from further up Medano Beach in the evening. However, kudos to them for only getting loud (at least when we were there) on Fri & Sat. nights. And even then, it got quiet at 10:00... I think I heard one of the Hacienda staff say something about a noise level ordinance for that part of the beach, but not certain.
And again, we were there during the craziest of weeks, so I have no idea what it's like the rest of the year. But at least from mid-March to mid-April, if you like to sit on your veranda watching the ocean in total peace and quiet all evening - even on weekends - and be in bed before 10PM, I'm not sure if/where off the beaten path you'll be able to go. But if you want one of the best beach properties in all of Cabo, I can't say enough...
