During my visit on December 31-January 1, 2024 New Year celebration , I encountered a series of unacc eptable issues that marred what should have been a pleasant dining and New Year celebration experience. These included: Lack of Service: The service was virtually nonexistent, with prolonged waiting times and a complete absence of attention from the staff. Missed Ordered Food: Despite placing an order, a significant portion of my food was either delayed or entirely missing, leading to an unsatisfactory dining experience.. I recommend addressing this specific issue in my complaint. Emphasize the significant discrepancy between the promised luxury of Don Perignon champagne and the disappointing substitution with an opened bottle of inferior sparkling wine. It’s crucial to highlight the misrepresentation and express our dissatisfaction with the provided alternative. The two appetizers served, specifically the so-called “foie gras” and the scallops risotto, were nothing sho rt of a culinary letdown. The “foie gras” appeared to be a mere butter ball, devoid of any trace of authentic duck liver, and its presentation was a far cry from the quality one would expect. Equally disheartening was the scallops risotto, featuring rubbery, bitter, and overcooked scallops immersed in what can only be described as a lukewarm rice porridge. This falls well below the standard one would anticipate from a dining establishment of your reputation. No Ordered Water: Basic requests, such as water, were overlooked, further contributing to the over all poor service. Disappeared Staff: Both the waitress and supervisors seemed to have vanished, making it impossible to address the ongoing problems or seek attention and assistance. My requests have being completely ignored . Inaccurate Billing: To add insult to injury... I was billed for items that were not my order at all or bille d for someone order, indicating a severe lack of attention to detail and further aggravating the situation. 2024 Dinner and celebration was fully prepaid ($500 US per person) and no additional food or drinks, but water (not received) ordered. Such discrepancies between the promised High End, World Class dining experience and the actual delivery are not only misleading but also reflect poorly on the credibility of your establishment. As a patron, I expect a level of culinary excellence commensurate with the descriptions on your menus, standards and service. I urge you to take immediate action to rectify these issues and ensure that such subpar offerings do not persist. Additionally, I hope for a sincere response outlining the steps being taken to improve the quality of your c ulinary offerings and uphold the integrity of your menu descriptions. I trust that you will treat this matter with the urgency it deserves, understanding the impact it has on your patrons’ overall satisfaction and the reputation of your establishment. Such a string of inadequacies is unacceptable and tarnishes the reputation of your establishment. As a customer, I expect a reasonable standard of service and attention to detail, which unfortunately were sorely lacking during my recent Bagatelle Cabo visit. I trust that you take customer feedback seriously and will promptly investigate and rectify these issues. I anticipate a swift and satisfactory resolution to this matter. Otherwise, I may be left with no choice but to share my unfortunate experience on public platforms, which I would prefer to avoid. I appreciate your immediate attention to this matter and hope for a positive and...
Read moreWe went on 80's night as a group of 6. For the price I don't believe this was worth the cost. Our server led with sharing that the restaurant was previously challenged with filling tables so they had changed their concept. It is not French Mediterranean as it would seem on the website.
Appetizers - We ordered the beef carpaccio, 2 salads to share, and eggplant parmigiana. The carpaccio was great, simple ingredients that let the beef speak for itself. The 2 salads we presented at the table with whole leaves for the server to cut up. It felt sloppy and not well executed. The addition of the flat leaf parsley to this salad was unnecessary. The eggplant parmigiana was tasty but really didn't need the parmesan cream. It over powered the eggplant.
Main Courses - We ordered the lobster fettuccini to share (The evenings Special), the Cod cooked meunière with three caviar sauce, Spaghettini nº5, Pecorino Emulsion & Chile Chilhuacle, and the Tiny Ravioli del Plin from Castelmagno with seasonal truffle. The lobster was great. However, the fettuccini was served cold. The spices in the fettuccini sauce needed to be toasted before being added to the sauce, it made for an over powering bite. The Cod was over cooked and plated to look like a flower with the three caviar sauce being poured around the dish when brought to the table. Again, this sauce and presentation took away from letting the great flavour of Cod shine. The Spaghettini had the same issue as the fettuccini, with the spices not toasted before being added to the sauce with a heavy pour of the chile chilhuacle. If you don't like heat I wouldn't recommend this dish. The Tiny Ravioli used way too much garlic and truffle.
The entertainment - was hokey at best. Anytime a bottle of Dom Perignon was ordered, a masked and costume wearing server came out with loud music, compressed air blowing machine, and dancing on the customers table. I'm sure there are people that would enjoy this but it felt tasteless. This costume wearing server was also our server for the evening and as a result we would have to wait to order more drinks. Throughout dinner there were interludes of 80's music at unnecessarily high volumes, flashing lights, with performers dancing between and on tables. Again, I am sure there are people that enjoy this. There was also a magician making the rounds with an expectation of tip. It just all felt very over stimulating taking away from what you would expect of a luxury restaurant.
The service - Our server was attentive for the most part with a great demeanour. He took the time to walk us through the menu and make recommendations. Unfortunately, as previously mentioned, he was also one of the entertainers for the restaurant and had to step away a few times.
For 6 people our bill came out to $1600 USD inclusive of a 15% gratuity which is common and to be expected. But then the bill is presented by someone who is not our server asking if we would like to add an additional tip just for our server as the 15% covers everyone working that evening.
Overall, for a restaurant presenting itself as a luxury restaurant, with a price tag to match it, completely missed the mark for what one would expect.
I would recommend this restaurant if you were looking for a beach club, maybe a few appetizers and some cocktails. Beyond that, this is not a luxury...
Read morePlease do not come to this restaurant, ESPECIALLY if you have any sort of food allergies or dietary restrictions.
I dined here with my family for my birthday dinner on 02/17. Out of all the restaurants in Cabo, I chose Bagatelle due to its festive atmosphere and club like dining experience. We had an 8:30pm reservation and were seated almost immediately. The initial ordering of drinks was fine, but the actual food is where the evening began to go downhill.
Upon checking in, the host asked if there were any allergies and/or dietary restrictions, to which I provided mine in great detail due to the anaphylactic severity. The waitress then asked for allergies and/or dietary restrictions again upon ordering our food. After confirming twice, I thought there would be zero issues, but I was extraordinarily wrong. Both my appetizer (the zucchini flowers) and my entree (the lobster fettuccine) contained my allergies. Thankfully, as my family and I were sharing these dishes, they tried the food before I did, so I didn't eat any of it, but I was left without a meal. After flagging down the waitress and some sort of additional staff, we shared this major health and safety concern, to which we were met with literally no resolution. Twice in a row this occurred, as we received our entrees 45 minutes after our appetizers. Completely disregarding a food allergy twice is a major red flag as a dining establishment, and not paying close attention to such severe allergies is a major liability. I could have been hospitalized had I eaten any of it. Even after explaining this to three separate staff members, not a single thing was done to rectify the situation. They just nodded their heads and went about their way as if nothing had happened.
To top off the increasingly poor evening, they managed make things worse. My family had pre-ordered a cake through the restaurant as a surprise. They provided Bagatelle in writing my name for the cake, as well as a request for sparklers since the restaurant uses many sparklers for their bottle service. My family had been told everything was set and there would be sparklers for the cake. However, when they finally brought out the cake, not only did it not have sparklers but also it had my name spelled wrong. At this point, my entire evening was ruined, and still, not a single staff member had even tried to make things right. A manager never came by even though we were told the manager would be coming. We were not offered any resolution to better the situation.
After some back and forth they did remove the lobster fettuccine and cake from our bill, but no manager ever came by to discuss the evening. The woman who brought the check over didn't even know our experience had gone so poorly, so there's clearly a lack of communication as well. She apologized to me profusely, but it was already too late as we were leaving.
I honestly don't think I've ever had such a terrible dining experience, and I will tell anyone and everyone to not dine here. The restaurant clearly has little to no regard to the safety and health of its patrons, as well as no regard in ensuring that its patrons are having a positive experience. What should have been a special celebration turned into a continuous nightmare, and it was the worst birthday I've ever had at...
